Group seeks CRIMINAL charges against Trump, Vance over remarks about Haitian migrant ‘cat eaters’

In an entirely new phase of lawfare, a left-wing group is seeking arrest warrants for former President Donald J. Trump and Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) over suggesting that Haitian migrants are eating cats.

On Tuesday, the Haitian Bridge Alliance, a California-based nonprofit announced that it has “filed criminal charges” against the two GOP candidates, alleging that they put the Haitian residents of Springfield, OH in danger by bringing attention to unconfirmed reports that some “newcomers” were snatching and dining on house pets.

“In Springfield, they’re eating dogs,” Trump said during the ABC News debate with Kamala Harris. “They’re eating the cats. They’re eating … the pets of the people that live there, and this is what’s happening in our country, and it’s a shame.”

“Today, the Haitian Bridge Alliance (HBA) filed criminal charges in a municipal court in Springfield, Ohio against Donald Trump and JD Vance stemming from the baseless and malicious comments made against our Haitian community this month,” the group said in a press release.

“As HBA alleged to the court, over the last few weeks, both Trump and Vance led an effort to vilify and threaten the Haitian community in Springfield. Together, they spread and amplified the debunked claim that Haitian immigrants in Springfield are eating pets including cats, dogs, and wildlife,” the statement read stating that the claims have been “debunked” rather than unconfirmed.

“The criminal charge asks the court to affirm probable cause that they committed multiple crimes and issue arrest warrants against Trump and Vance,” the Haitian Bridge Alliance said, announcing that it had retained the services of racial ambulance chaser Subodh Chandra of the Tamir Rice police shooting case.

One leftist who was titillated by the new lawfare angle was MSNBC’s Katie Phang who wrote on X, “In Ohio: private citizens can file an affidavit charging criminal offenses and the court must either issue an arrest warrant or refer it to the prosecuting attorney for investigation.”

The group cited the fake bomb threats against schools, government offices, and hospitals in Springfield as a basis for its action against Trump and Vance.

“Thirty-three bomb threats have been alleged across Springfield within the last two weeks. Hospitals, schools, universities, and government offices were all evacuated after receiving racially charged threats. Springfield government officials and their families received threats. Trump and Vance’s lies have harmed the Springfield community, and their lies have violated criminal law,” said Executive Director Guerline Jozef.

The press release left out the part where Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine confirmed that the bomb threats were “hoaxes” that came from overseas, not Trump supporters as the lying media would lead people to believe.

“President Trump is rightfully highlighting the failed immigration system that Kamala Harris has overseen, bringing thousands of illegal immigrants pouring into communities like Springfield and many others across the country,” Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung told the New York Post. “President Trump will secure our border and put an end to the chaos that illegal immigration brings to our communities.”

If it gets traction, the frivolous abuse of the courts could open the door to empower virtually every Trump-hating activist in the land to file similar citizen’s arrest complaints in the hope that one judge will recklessly take action and order arrests.
