DNC organizers serve up doozy of an excuse for Biden’s speech being so late

The Democratic National Convention kicked off on Monday and it’s safe to say the night dragged on and on… and on.

Eyebrows were already raised that President Joe Biden, who was reportedly forced out as the Democratic nominee because of concerns over his mental acuity, was tapped to deliver the eulogy to his 50-year career as a politician on the very first night but to leave him sitting in the wings until nearly midnight (EST) was seen as yet another cruel blow to poor ol’ Joe.

Which is not to say that the DNC organizers didn’t have a ready excuse for why they were running so far behind schedule — an overly enthusiastic crowd.

A DNC official said in a statement, “Because of the raucous applause interrupting speaker after speaker, we ultimately skipped elements of our program to ensure we could get to President Biden as quickly as possible so that he could speak directly to the American people.”

Democrats can’t even schedule a political convention to run on time, but they want to run the country? Unfortunately for them, even reliable CNN scoffed at the reasoning offered up.

After noting the DNC excuse, anchor Anderson Cooper quipped, “That’s the sort of thing that you build into it. We have had conventions before.”

Keep in mind, there were recent reports of White House sources saying Biden functioned best between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., as a result of his cognitive decline. The end result Monday evening was that when Biden finally took the stage, his performance suffered.

“President Biden has arguably one of his worst speeches to date, lies and slurs his way through the entire speech,” observed online influencer Collin Rugg, before offering a recap.

One thing is certain, organizers could never run a real business if Monday night’s debacle is the best they can do. Of course, there was plenty of speculation that it was a strategic move by The Machine™ to push the 81-year-old president’s speech out of prime time, knowing many on the East Coast were likely to have called it a night and gone to bed.

Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on the social media platform X:
