Was there a secret government plot to kill Trump?

I don’t normally gravitate to conspiracy theories, but here is one that has captured my attention. The number and seriousness of the Secret Service screw-ups during the attempted assassination of Donald Trump point to the possibility that Biden’s government was involved in a conspiracy to murder the Republican Party’s candidate for president.

Here are the clues. First, the Secret Service neglected to surveille a rooftop with an obvious direct line of fire at President Trump. SS Director Kimberly Cheatle’s unacceptable excuse is that the sloped roof presented a “safety factor” issue, which led to the decision to have the building secured from the inside. Second, despite Clue No. 1, the SS refused an offer of drones by local law enforcement. Drones could have identified the shooter.

Cheatle resigned under pressure and acknowledged that the SS failed to keep the former president safe. Trump has blamed the Biden administration, claiming it failed to adequately protect him.

Third, a congressional source says 62 minutes elapsed between the time the shooter was photographed as being suspicious and when he fired the shots. CBS reported that an officer saw Thomas Crooks carrying a range finder and ‘scoping out’ the roof of the building but did not stop him. SS counter-snipers were aware of Crooks’ presence 20 minutes in advance of the shooting yet took no action.

Fourth, in spite of No. 3 no attempt was made to delay Trump’s address or to remove him from a vulnerable position. Fifth, the SS counter-snipers had a view of the assassin for at least two full minutes before the shooting and neglected to take him out.

Sixth, DEI played a role in the scenario. Trump was surrounded by female SS agents who were not big enough to shield Trump from bullets. Cheatle had stated that her number one priority for the SS was not to ramp up its protection resources but rather to increase the number of female agents to 30 percent.

Seventh, 20-year-old would-be assassin Thomas Crooks is known to have three encrypted off-shore bank accounts. “The shooter had three encrypted accounts overseas,” said Rep. Michael Waltz. “At the same time we’re having an Iranian plot.” U.S. intelligence has confirmed an Iranian plot to kill Trump and some of his supporters. Was there a connection?

“The existence of the intelligence threat from a hostile foreign intelligence agency,” reported CNN, “raises new questions about the security lapses at the Saturday rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, and how a 20-year-old man managed to access a nearby rooftop to fire shots that injured the former president. A U.S. national security official said the Secret Service and Trump campaign were made aware of the threat before Saturday’s rally.”

The New York Times reported on July 15 that, “Four minutes after the first report of a shooting, an anonymous account on X posted, ‘Joe Biden’s antifa shot President Trump.’ Within half an hour, another account on X claimed without proof that the attack against Mr. Trump had most likely been ordered by the Central Intelligence Agency. Shortly after that, the far-right activist Laura Loomer posted on X about some recent remarks that President Biden made about Mr. Trump and then wrote, ‘They tried to kill Trump.’” Loomer was referring to Biden’s unfortunate comment to donors earlier in the week that, “It’s time to put Trump in the bull’s-eye.”

“The narrative that President Biden and his allies had engineered the attack on Mr. Trump was amplified by Republican lawmakers,” the Times report continued. “The idea that President Biden was behind the shooting of Mr. Trump was perhaps the most dominant conspiracy theory to emerge. It was a striking example of the speed, scale and stickiness of rumors on social media.”

We can’t determine if there is any truth to the conspiracy theories until more information about the shooting is revealed. At the same time, we cannot dismiss the possibility that the assassination attempt was a plot by the CIA or other elements of the Biden administration. All we can do is hope these theories are the plot of a bad movie.
