Pastor wins funniest RNC moment with spot-on Trump impersonation, gets the real one rolling

Rev. James A. Roemke of Kenosha’s Messiah Lutheran Church managed to bring a much-needed smile to the face of Donald Trump as he took the stage Monday evening at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.

On a night when emotions were high, and Trump was still recovering mentally and physically from an attempt on his life by a 20-year-old would-be assassin who inexplicably out-maneuvered Secret Service, the pastor dropped an unexpected if not spot-on, impersonation of the former president.

“It’s a great pleasure to be here. Great pleasure to see President Donald Trump safe,” Roemke said in a somewhat somber tone.

“And if I may before the benediction, give you this promise,” he continued before a sudden shift in his voice and mannerisms. “You’re going to be so blessed. You’re gonna be tired of being blessed. I guarantee it.”

The latter remarks sounded very much like Trump, who looked on with a broad smile rarely seen from the man.

A common observation about his appearance at the RNC Monday night was that Trump, who wore a bandage over the gunshot wound to his right ear, appeared to be a different man. This was evident in his eyes and his smile, as if the former president had a new lease on life.

Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on the social media platform X:
