Donald Trump was quick to acknowledge just how beautiful singer Taylor Swift is, even though he seemed to question her liberal bona fides.

The former president commented on Swift in an upcoming book written by Variety co-editor-in-chief Ramin Setoodeh. “Apprentice in Wonderland: How Donald Trump and Mark Burnett Took America Through the Looking Glass.”

Setoodeh asked Trump about Taylor Swift in November 2023, and Variety published the passage on Monday.

“She’s got a great star quality, she really does,” Trump replied. “I think she’s beautiful — very beautiful! I find her very beautiful. I think she’s liberal. She probably doesn’t like Trump. I hear she’s very talented. I think she’s very beautiful, actually — unusually beautiful!”

After telling Setoodeh that he didn’t “know” Swift’s music “well,” the presumptive 2024 Republican presidential nominee said, “But she is liberal, or is that just an act?”

“She’s legitimately liberal? It’s not an act? It surprises me that a country star can be successful being liberal,” he added.

Of course, Swift is not so much a country star these days as a pop diva who cashed in on bending her knee to the intolerant left. According to Variety, there were rumors during the 2016 election cycle that the singer was a secret Republican. She squashed such talk by endorsing two Democrats in Tennessee, one running for the Senate and one running for the House.

Opposing Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), she wrote on Instagram at the time: “In the past I’ve been reluctant to publicly voice my political opinions, but due to several events in my life and in the world in the past two years, I feel very differently about that now,” adding, “I always have and always will cast my vote based on which candidate will protect and fight for the human rights I believe we all deserve in this country.”

Swift’s political endorsements, including her support for President Biden in the 2020 election, have significantly influenced her career, a fact that cannot be overlooked.
