Joe Biden claims he won’t pardon son Hunter

Democrats have been fond of saying no one is above the law in response to the relentless persecution of Donald Trump, the presumptive 2024 Republican presidential nominee, but now that Hunter Biden’s trial on criminal gun charges is underway the American people will soon see if there is any truth to the assertion.

On that note, President Joe Biden declared Thursday that he will not pardon his son if he’s found guilty.

The 81-year-old president was speaking with ABC News anchor David Muir at the Normandy American Cemetery on the 80th anniversary of D-Day and was asked if he would accept the outcome of Hunter’s trial. After Biden affirmed that he would, Muir followed up by asking him if he would rule out a pardon if Hunter was found guilty and the president replied, “Yes.”

Given the two-tiered system of justice in America today, where those protesting abortion centers are sentenced to years in prison while those burning down buildings during “peaceful protests” of the latest cause du jour walk, the odds are in Hunter Biden’s favor that even if he is found guilty that his sentence will amount to little more than a slap on the wrist.

Biden released a statement on Monday, as Hunter’s trial was kicking off.

“I am the President, but I am also a Dad. Jill and I love our son, and we are so proud of the man he is today,” the statement read. “Hunter’s resilience in the face of adversity and the strength he has brought to his recovery are inspiring to us. A lot of families have loved ones who have overcome addiction and know what we mean.”

“As the President, I don’t and won’t comment on pending federal cases, but as a Dad, I have boundless love for my son, confidence in him, and respect for his strength,” he added. “Our family has been through a lot together, and Jill and I are going to continue to be there for Hunter and our family with our love and support.”

First Lady Jill Biden was in the courtroom on Monday as jury selection played out, and was joined by Hunter’s wife, Melissa Cohen-Biden.

The trial comes on the heels of former President Trump’s conviction on trumped-up felony charges related to a 2016 hush money payment.

In Thursday’s interview, Biden accused Trump of trying to subvert the rule of law by calling his guilty verdict a politically motivated witch hunt.

“He’s trying to undermine it,” the president said. “He got a fair trial. The jury spoke.”

As ironic as that may be, given that the rule of law has been turned on its head to target Biden’s political opponent in the upcoming election, the Trump jury was seated in one of the bluest districts in America in a case being prosecuted by a man, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who campaigned for his office on the vow that he would get Trump.
