Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese was ejected from a basketball game against the New York Liberty, allegedly for “disrespectful” behavior — after boasting that people come to see her play.
Reese received two technical fouls during the course of the game, resulting in her fourth-quarter ejection. Her teammates as well as head coach Teresa Weatherspoon were shocked and confused by the seemingly sudden decision to remove the rookie forward from the game.

“I tried to get an explanation. I did not,” Weatherspoon explained, as reported by ESPN. “I don’t know to this moment what has happened.”
Lead official Maj Forsberg explained after the game that the technical fouls were for Reese “disrespectfully addressing” an official, and then “waving her hand in dismissal.”
Fellow Sky player Marina Mabrey gave her level-headed take on the situation, saying: “She got two techs, she said something to the ref. Whatever he felt like was the correct call is what he made. It’s more about composure for us in our young years in the WNBA. You’ve got to get to know refs and how they respond to things.”
This comes after Reese claimed that people tune into WNBA games to see her “too,” in an apparent dig at Caitlin Clark, a shooting star Indiana Fever player who has generated unprecedented national interest in female basketball.
“I’ll look back in 20 years and be like the reason why we’re watching women’s basketball is not just because of one person. It’s because of me, too,” Reese insisted. “I want y’all to realize that”

Social media sounded off on the stunning moment:
That’s not even a warning in the NBA conference finals. This is the league punishing her for being mouthy. Shameful.

It was a terrible call.

Well she wanted to be the villain. Welcome to Round one

TSpoon said in her interview the refs wouldn’t even give her an explanation on why Angel was ejected. The @WNBA is targeting @Reese10Angel for absolutely nothing. The refs are trash but we know the are doing what the league tell them to do

Like I said the other day, the coach doesn’t hold her players accountable at all. She better get control or this is going to get ugly….

The Chicago Sky would go on to lose the game 88-75 against the Liberty. Reese was already fined by the WNBA for her decision to skip postgame interviews on Sunday following the team’s game against the Indiana Fever.
