Former President Donald J. Trump appeared at the National Rifle Association’s annual meeting on Saturday, delivering a rousing speech to an adoring crowd in Dallas, Texas.
On a rare day when he hasn’t been tied up in a New York City courtroom, the presumptive GOP nominee was the highlight of the pro-Second Amendment organization’s big event, earning its endorsement for the presidency.
Raucous cheers broke out as Trump took the stage at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, thanking the “great patriots” and unloading on gun grabber-in-chief Joe Biden whom he called for to take a drug test, also tearing into “radical” third-party candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

The former and perhaps future president referred to the crowd as a “rebellious bunch” as he stressed how important it is for gun owners to get out and vote.
“But one thing I’ll say, and I say it as friends, we’ve got to get gun owners to vote because you know what? I don’t know what it is. Perhaps it’s a form of rebellion because you’re a rebellious people, aren’t you?” Trump told the crowd. “But gun owners don’t vote. What is that all about?”
“If gun owners would vote, we would swamp them at levels that nobody’s ever seen before,” he added. “So, I think you’re a rebellious bunch. So let’s be rebellious and vote this time.”
In what has been a common theme in recent days since he agreed to debate Biden in two forums where the table will be heavily tilted against him, he called for the geriatric Democrat to be tested for substance abuse.
“Now, he did that State of the Union the other day. He was high as a kite,” Trump said, suggesting that Biden was jacked up on something when he gave the annual address. “So, I think we should go for drug tests on the debate. Yeah, we’re going to call for drug tests.”
Trump also told the audience not to “waste your vote” on Kennedy and that the third-party candidate is a part of the “radical left.”
“RFK, Jr. — I call him Junior by the way — he’s radical left. Don’t think about it. Don’t waste your vote,” he said. “We need a conservative person with common sense. This guy is radical left who destroyed New York.”
“But RFK Jr. calls you a terrorist group. You know, he calls you a terrorist group,” Trump told NRA members. “[You] can’t vote for him. You can’t. You know, somebody said, well, they like his policy on vaccines the other day. He said, no, no, he’ll go for the vaccine. He’s nice. He’s got no policy or anything. He’s radical left. He always has been.”
“Thank you very much! It was a true honor to be in Dallas, Texas, to receive the endorsement of the proud American patriots at the NRA!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
On Friday, Trump also called for the 81-year-old career politician to be tested for drugs.
“I just want to debate this guy but you know and I’m going to demand a drug test too by the way. I am. No I really,” Trump said during a speech at a Republican event in the battleground state of Minnesota. “I don’t want him coming in like the State of the Union – he was high as a kite.”
Trump also acknowledged the apparent bias of having “Fake Tapper” and Dana Bash moderating the debate on CNN.
“They’re going to be fine. They’re going to be – I think they’re going to be fair and if they’re not you know you have to deal with it right? You have to deal with it but I just wanted to accept.” he said.
