Antony Blinken’s guitar jam session at a bar in Kyiv to brag about US aid is weapons-grade cringe

Ukraine may be faring badly in the war with Russia but it’s happy days in Kyiv after Congress approved the $61 billion aid package last month and Secretary of State Antony Blinken joined the celebration.

The top U.S. diplomat and Volodymyr Zelenskyy fanboy dropped by a popular nightspot during his unscheduled visit to the Ukrainian capital where he grabbed a guitar and jammed onstage in a performance that can only be described as weapons-grade cringe.

Blinken, who in addition to heading up the State Department is an amateur guitar slinger, belted out the chords to Neil Young’s classic anthem “Rockin’ in the Free World” with the band 19.99 at the Barman Dictat in Kyiv, a city seemingly unaffected by the raging violence in the eastern part of the Eastern European country.

“I know that this is a really, really difficult time,” Blinken told the bar’s patrons, strapping on the guitar.

“Your soldiers, your citizens – particularly in the northeast and Kharkiv – are suffering tremendously, but they need to know, you need to know, the United States is with you, so much of the world is with you,” he said. “And they’re fighting not just for Ukraine but for the free world. And the free world is with you too.”

“So maybe we can try something,” Blinken added before he launched into the song. “I don’t know if we can pull this off,” and you could practically hear the dogs howling all the way to the battlefront with what came next.

If the reviews from X users are any indication, Secretary Blinken had better stick to his day job.

“If this Cringe could be weaponised and deployed, the Russians would be withdrawing by now,” one user quipped.

Others also tuned up Joe Biden’s top foreign policy guy whose visit comes as the country has suspended elections because there’s nothing like “democracy” in a land where Zelenskyy could rule for life with the support of the hypocrites currently in charge of the U.S. government.

Blinken is all-in on Ukraine, so much so that last year he dressed his young son up like a miniature version of Zelenskyy and trotted him out at last year’s White House Halloween party where he was given candy from Biden, an apropos metaphor for the endless flow of taxpayer dollars to Kyiv.

He previously showed off his musical skills, jamming to legendary bluesman Muddy Waters’ song “Hoochie Coochie Man” at a State Department function last October.

“I couldn’t pass up tonight’s opportunity to combine music and diplomacy,” Blinken wrote on X at the time, sharing a video of his performance.
