Trump prosecutor PLEADS FIFTH when asked if he BROKE THE LAW investigating Trump!

U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) shared a damning video of Mark Pomerantz, the former special assistant to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, falling back on the Fifth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which protects an individual’s right to avoid self-incrimination, when asked if he broke any laws while investigating former President Donald Trump.

The Florida lawmaker fell back on the footage to declare the criminal hush money trial against Trump “such a sham.”

Pleading the Fifth, which is essentially the right to remain silent, is not an admission of guilt, but it certainly makes for some bad optics—especially when it’s coming from a prosecutor.

The video is from a May 1, 2023, deposition before the U.S. House Judiciary Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, and Pomerantz extended his Fifth Amendment rights when Gaetz asked, “Did you knowingly break any laws when investigating President Trump?”

Gaetz got the same response when he asked, “Did you break any laws while you worked at the Manhattan District Attorney’s office?”

Pomerantz also pleaded the Fifth when asked if he violated anyone’s constitutional rights, misused any federal funds, or violated New York State Bar rules while investigating Trump.

“In a closed-door deposition, I asked Mark Pomerantz very simple questions regarding whether he committed crimes or violated the civil rights of any people in the course of his investigation of President Trump and his tenure at the Manhattan DA’s office,” Gaetz told Newsweek. “Every single time he plead his Fifth Amendment privilege against self-incrimination.”

“This Trump trial is such a sham that even the prosecutors can’t admit on record if they acted lawfully for fear of incriminating themselves. Shame and a disgrace!”

Given all the shenanigans from the Department of Justice when it comes to Trump, which began even before he took office as president, people are highly skeptical of the concept of “justice” in post-Obama America.

Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on the social media platform X:
