Unhinged leftist conspiracy theory claims Trump ‘wants states to track your menstrual cycle’

The age of disinformation didn’t kick off during the Trump presidency by accident, as gossip and innuendo reigned supreme in the quest to defeat the former president. The bar was set with the Russian collusion hoax, orchestrated in large part in a collaboration between Hillary Clinton’s campaign and the FBI.

Having set the bar so low, anything is possible, such as the claim that Trump told Americans to inject bleach into themselves to battle COVID-19. A new conspiracy theory giving that a run for its money is from a liberal white woman in New York, who claims the presumptive 2024 Republican presidential nominee wants to track women’s menstrual cycles.

Make no mistake, Melanie D’Arrigo checks all the boxes when it comes to liberal bona fides. She’s the executive director of Campaign for NY Health, which is government-funded single-payer healthcare, legislative vice president for the National Organization of Women in New York State, and a gun-grabbing member of Moms Demand Action.

“Donald Trump wants states to track your menstrual cycle, and Republicans think that ISN’T a violation of your rights. They don’t want states to track your gun purchases, because they think that IS a violation of your rights. Guns have more of a right to privacy than women,” D’Arrigo posted on X.

D’Arrigo is essentially parroting Biden campaign talking points based on a recent interview Trump did with Time Magazine where he suggested states with restrictive abortion bans could potentially monitor women’s pregnancies.

“I think they might do that. Again, you’ll have to speak to the individual states,” he told Time.

“Donald Trump’s latest comments leave little doubt: if elected he’ll sign a national abortion ban, allow women who have an abortion to be prosecuted and punished, allow the government to invade women’s privacy to monitor their pregnancies, and put IVF and contraception in jeopardy nationwide,” Biden campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez said Tuesday in a statement.

As for why D’Arrigo would go there, as seen in the current chaos on college campuses, the gullible Democratic base is easily manipulated and will fall for pretty much anything.

Social media users, on the other hand, are a bit more savvy… here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on X:
