Fox News host Harris Faulkner accused Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and New York Judge Juan Merchan of carrying out “legal terrorism” against former President Donald Trump Tuesday, saying she was “still looking” for a “victim” in the case.
Merchan sparred with Trump’s attorneys during a Tuesday morning hearing to address allegations that the former president violated an expanded gag order imposed on April 1 after the former president criticized the judge’s daughter in multiple posts on Truth Social, including one linking to a New York Post report on Loren Merchan’s firm helping Democratic causes raise $93 million off of Trump’s indictment in the case centering around a $130,000 payout to porn star Stormy Daniels. Faulkner expressed outrage at the possibility Trump could be tossed in jail over “future violations” of the gag order and cited the judge’s treatment of Trump’s attorneys in the hearing. “That’s a nation not run by a president, not even a dictator, but a terrorist,” Faulkner told Terrell.
Terrell responded by explaining that Merchan was “compromised” and should have recused himself from the case based on his daughter’s involvement in fundraising for Trump critics like Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff of California.
“It feels like legal terrorism, it really does,” Faulkner told Terrell. “I’m still looking for the victim. I’m still looking, as we have in these other cases, still looking for any fairness in this process. He is within the gag order confines and they want to go after him.”
“Then they were so contentious,” Faulkner continued. “I don’t know if you saw some of the coverage we had this morning. The judge was contentious reportedly with the defense, telling them to hurry up, but giving the prosecution as much time as they needed.”
Merchan reportedly told Trump’s attorney he was “losing all credibility” with the court during Tuesday’s hearing on the alleged gag order violations. Trump attorney Todd Blanche argued that the former president did not violate the gag order in ten posts on Truth Social cited by prosecutors, saying he had the right to respond to “a barrage of political attacks.”
George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley and former federal prosecutor Andy McCarthy both noted that former Trump attorney Michael Cohen, expected to be a star witness for Bragg’s prosecutors, has made multiple media appearances slamming Trump while the gag order against Trump has prevented him from responding.
