Democrats understand the impact abortion rights can have on the get-out-the-vote effort and waste no opportunity capitalizing on any attempt to restrict the killing of unborn babies.
With higher aspirations in mind, California Gov. Gavin Newsom is eager to present himself as a reliable company man willing to go the extra mile for the Democratic Party, and on that note, he shared a rather extreme abortion ad focused on Alabama that was widely likened to “The Handmaid’s Tale.”
In the ad, a mother is making for the state line to escape Alabama with her pregnant teen daughter, presumably on their way to abort the child. Within a mile of exiting the state, they are suddenly pulled over by an Alabama state trooper who then informs the teen, “I need you to step out of the vehicle and take a pregnancy test.”
Alabama’s abortion ban has no exceptions for rape or incest.
Now, Republicans are trying to criminalize young women’s travel to receive abortion care.

Abortion is a driving factor for Newson, and he went so far as to fall back on its importance over the weekend while fretting over the “overindulgence” of former President Donald Trump’s hush money trial, expressing concern that the focus on Trump could distract from the killing of unborn babies.
“When we are focusing on him, I do worry electorally that he has a slight advantage,” he said during an appearance on MSNBC. “And so, I am a little concerned about the overindulgence around the day-to-day. I get it, I totally get it. The consequential nature of a criminal trial is profound and outsized, in some respect, but not more outsized than democracy, more outsized than Dobbs.”
And make no mistake, Democrats see this as the “winning” issue in November:
Dems. this is the message for winning in November.

So I should believe that a cop will pull someone over and ask them to take a pregnancy test?
