Team Biden bombs after borrowing page from Trump playbook to hit him with new nickname

President Joe Biden’s campaign is borrowing from his enemy for its newest strategy amid dismal polls and is now turning to name-calling to go after presumptive GOP nominee Donald J. Trump.

Trump has a unique gift for coining catchy nicknames that stick to his political adversaries like glue with “Crooked Joe” and “Birdbrain” Nikki Haley being two examples but so far Team Biden’s attempts to flip the script by stealing a page from the former president’s playbook is falling flat.

Earlier this week, the Biden-Harris campaign sent out an email calling Trump “Broke Don” a reference to the $464 civil fraud penalty leveled against him left-wing Judge Arthur Engoron and New York Attorney General Letitia “Peekaboo” James, gloating about the obvious effort to bankrupt his 2024 opponent.

Like nearly everything else that the whiz kids on Team Biden touch, it quickly blew up in their faces when “Broke Don” got a big financial assist from investors who cleared the way for a merger to take his Truth Social platform public, potentially netting Trump over $3 billion.

There is also the added attention to the lawfare that has been deployed by Biden’s allies to financially cripple Trump, a very un-American way to influence the election.

“Crooked Joe’s campaign just can’t keep up,” political strategist Ashley Hayek told Fox News Digital. “Not only does he fail at mocking Teflon Don, he highlights his own department’s illegal seizure of the Trump empire, reminding Americans of the alarming overreach by his administration.”

“Gallup polling shows that 66% of Americans view the DOJ negatively, [which is] purely a reflection of his failure of leadership,” Hayek added. “Biden would be better off running from the basement again.”

“The Biden team’s instinct to earn free media, try to get under his skin, and go on offense is the right one. But mimicking Trump has been done before and has never really worked,” an unnamed Democratic strategist told The Hill, casting doubt on the effectiveness of trying to outdo the master with nicknames.

“You can’t out-Trump Trump because he’s the original version. I would say they need to be more creative in producing their own original and unique strategy to bring him down a peg that shocks and awes,” the strategist said.

“George Bernard Shaw famously advised ‘never wrestle with a pig because you’ll both get dirty and the pig likes it,’” said Bruce Mehlman, a former official in the George W. Bush administration, referring to a quote by the Irish playwright.

“If Crooked Joe’s broken brain campaign thinks it can play this game better than we can, they are in for a rude awakening,” Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

“They have a cognitively impaired freak show candidate who literally embarrasses himself every time he opens his mouth or shuffles his feet, only to fall on his ass for the world to see,” wrote Cheung.
