Fox host says progressives preferred Fetterman ‘when he couldn’t speak’: ‘They liked him incapacitated’

Progressive Democrats have turned on a man whom they believed was one of their own, Senator John Fetterman (D-Pa.) whom they seem to have liked more before he recovered from depression and a stroke.

That is the opinion of Fox News host Will Cain who suggested that many Democrats had much warmer feelings for the hulking Pennsylvania galoot back when he was a borderline zombie, a cuddly non-threatening pet before he went rogue.

On Saturday’s edition of “Fox & Friends Weekend,” the co-host commented on Fetterman’s appearance on the conservative network where he once again emphasized that he doesn’t consider himself to be a progressive.

“First of all, what an inspiring progression in his recovery,” Cain said after showing a clip of Fetterman’s interview on “Special Report with Bret Baier” on Friday. “He can clearly speak and he could not clearly speak some six months ago, and, so, just as an individual, as a human, we should all celebrate his ability to recover from something like a stroke.”

“Secondarily, I would say, Democrats liked him better when he couldn’t speak,” he added. “They liked him better when he was…and, look, he was made fun of by many of us, and, he was disabled. He could not articulate his thoughts. He couldn’t read, and that’s when he was appreciated by the progressives. When he was mocked for being, as it was said, like a vegetable. They liked him incapacitated, and therefore a blank slate to project upon their most far-left agenda items.”

“But, now, he’s alert, and recovered, and articulate, and independent, most importantly, independent. He’s become persona non grata. He has his own thoughts and he should be respected for that,” Cain said, acknowledging that Fetterman is still a Democrat but that “I just respect that he’s thinking, and he’s independent.”

“What I have found out over the last couple years is that the right, and now the left, are hoping that I die,” Fetterman told The New York Times in December as attacks from progressives intensified over his support of the Jewish democracy.

Once among the left’s biggest rock stars, the hoodie-clad Fetterman’s popularity has taken a hit with leftists for his staunch support of Israel, something that hasn’t gone over well with the Jew-haters who now comprise a sizable chunk of his party’s base.

While his attire still resembles that of a homeless dumpster dweller, Fetterman’s mental acuity has dramatically improved since he underwent treatment for clinical depression and his ongoing recovery from the debilitating stroke that he had during his 2022 Senate campaign.

Fetterman emerged from treatment talking like an old-school blue-collar liberal of the type that is no longer welcomed by the Democratic Party which has been taken over by shrill socialist young Turks like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and her squad, a cadre of mouthy antisemites who many see as de facto lobbyists for the Hamas terror organization.

“I know that some people are caught by surprise, and even when I just said, you know, in passing, that I’m not a Progressive,” the senator said. “And I’ve been saying that for years, actually.”
