Portland jury CONVICTS woman of ‘hate crime’ after ‘misgendering’ a man who entered women’s bathroom

If you choose to live in progressive Portland, Oregon, you’d better watch your pronouns.

After a man in a bar shoved his way into the women’s bathroom, a female off-duty bartender told him to use the other toilet.

The 15-second December 2022 confrontation between bartender Cassandra McIntyre and Riis Larsen, who self-identifies as a Marxist “queer demi-binary trans woman” involved a gentle shove and an expletive as McIntyre called Larsen “a man” and told him to “get out.”

According to journalist Andy Ngô, Larsen, “formerly known as Ronald A. Larsen,” allegedly “shoved another person to cut in line for the women’s toilet” when McIntyre intervened.

Surveillance footage shows McIntyre pushing back, though it lacked audio.

On Wednesday, following a two-day trial, a jury convicted McIntyre of a second-degree bias crime and harassment charges. Judge Christopher Marshall sentenced her to 50 hours of community service and two years of probation, The Oregonian/OregonLive reports.

That’s “longer than what convicted violent BLM-Antifa rioters and arsonists received in Multnomah County,” according to Ngô.

Ngô questioned whether “misgendering” is a crime in the woke Oregon county.

“I sent the office of [Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Schmidt] a media inquiry about its aggressive and successful prosecution of a woman who misgendered a trans activist at a women’s bathroom in Portland, Ore.,” he wrote in a follow-up post. “The prosecution repeatedly brought attention to the misgendering during the trial to argue that it was a second-degree bias crime.”

“In Multnomah County, is misgendering a crime?” Ngô asked.

The attached arrest warrant for McIntyre signed by Circuit Court Judge Cheryl Albrecht reads, “YOU ARE COMMANDED to arrest the above-named defendant forthwith and bring said defendant before me.”

And, according to The Oregonian/OregonLive, prosecuting such cases is a Portland “trend.”

“The two-day jury trial in Multnomah County Circuit Court is part of a trend for Portland prosecutors, who file more hate crime charges per capita than any other district attorney’s office in the state,” the outlet reports.

According to one user on X, the conviction of McIntyre is “INSANE!!!”

For some, the conviction struck a personal chord.

“I have been harassed by a male in a women’s bathroom and I would not stand to have any guy in a woman’s bathroom,” one user said. “I don’t care what clothes he has on. It is unacceptable for any person with a penis to be allowed in there!!!”
