Squishy Fox News host warns Trump to stay away from MAGA allies

Donald Trump prevailed in Michigan’s primary Tuesday over former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, getting closer to sealing the deal as the 2024 Republican presidential nominee.

Who the former president surrounded himself with proved to be an issue during his first term in office, sometimes falling short of his assertion that he taps “only the best” people to serve alongside him.

On that note, Fox News host Brian Kilmeade warned Trump that he would lose the 2024 election if he “listens to Matt Gaetz and Steve Bannon.”

“Well, I think both candidates have to realize this: That if, on the left, if Joe Biden listens to the Squad, he loses. And I think if Donald Trump listens to Matt Gaetz and Steve Bannon, he loses,” he said Tuesday on Fox & Friends.

“They have to understand that most of the people are not on the extremes,” he added. “And if you could understand that, you’re going to win. The first one to understand that and does what they think they should do, and not what the extremists are bullying them to do, is going to be successful.”

Bannon did not make it a full year as Trump’s White House adviser but after signs of apparent bad blood — Trump once referred to his former aide as “Sloppy Steve” — the two appear to have mended the fences as seen on Saturday when Trump gave Bannon a shoutout in his CPAC speech.

Gaetz has been a staunch supporter of the former president, with the Florida Republican opting to back Trump over Gov. Ron DeSantis in his home state.

Social media users were not so quick to yield to Kilmeade’s take on events… here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on X:
