Trump curb stomps Nikki Haley in her home state: ‘I don’t know if she’s in the race at all’

Republican frontrunner Donald J. Trump clobbered his lone remaining rival Nikki Haley in the South Carolina primary on Saturday and is heading into Super Tuesday with a full head of steam.

The drubbing was so thorough that the race was called for the former president within moments of the polls closing, a major embarrassment for the state’s former governor that could have been even worse if not for the open primaries that allowed for Haley’s vote total to be inflated by Democrats.

There was never really any doubt that Trump would take South Carolina with the only question being what the final margin would be and the state remains a stronghold for him where he enjoys deep support among the locals.

“This was a little sooner than we anticipated,” Trump said of the quick announcement of his big win during a victory party at the South Carolina State Fairgrounds in Columbia. “An even bigger win than we anticipated…I was just informed that we got double the number of votes that has ever been received in the great state of South Carolina.”

Trump would get nearly 60 percent in the decisive win but the 40 percent received by Haley allows her backers – many of them Democrats – to maintain that she is a viable candidate when in reality, she is hanging around in the hope that one of the multiple lawfare cases will result in either the Trump’s removal from the ballot or with him behind bars.

Despite the humiliation, “Backdoor Nikki” isn’t going anywhere.

“I’m a woman of my word. I’m not giving up this fight when a majority of Americans disapprove of both Trump and Biden,” Haley said in a post to X, previously known as Twitter.

“In the next 10 days, 21 states and territories will speak. They have the right to a real choice, not a Soviet-style election with only one candidate. And I have a duty to give them that choice,” she added without a hint of irony that her allies are the ones who are engaging in the “Soviet-style” conduct with their abuse of the legal system to take Trump out.

“I was honored that I received the largest vote in the history of the state — I’m with Senator Lindsey Graham right now and he just told me we received the largest vote by double — we beat the last record,” Trump said in an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital. “So that’s a great compliment to all of the people and to making America great again.”

Asked if he wanted Haley to drop out, Trump told the outlet, “Really not thinking about that… I’m not thinking about it.”

“I’m really thinking about we have to beat Joe Biden,” he said. “I don’t know if she’s in the race at all, because, you know, I have set records in every single state. I’m not sure that she’s really in the race.”

Trump has now posted four impressive wins in a row in Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada, and South Carolina with Michigan coming up next.
