President Biden will deliver his third State of the Union address on March 7, and there is plenty of chatter about Donald Trump possibly giving the official Republican response — the former president released a video of what he called “the real state of the union” following last year’s speech.
Citing five people familiar with the talks, NBC News reported that aides and allies close to Trump have discussed the presumptive 2024 GOP presidential nominee officially countering Biden’s speech.
“Looking forward to it, Mr. Speaker,” Biden responded to the formal invitation extended last month by House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.)

Trump has discussed the possibility, according to two of the sources who both say he is not jumping at the opportunity.
Of course, the invitation would have to come from Speaker Johnson AND Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), who is not exactly a Trump lover.
“There are no plans at this time,” a senior Trump aide, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said, according to NBC News.
Trump campaign senior adviser Jason Miller took it a step further, saying, “This is complete bullsh*t, and proves the fake news will literally run anything based on their own imaginations.”
While U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) has not heard of any plans, she is game for a Trump rebuttal.
“Of course President Trump should do it,” she told NBC News.
Another Republican lawmaker said anonymously, “It just didn’t make any sense to me, and that’s what I told him. I genuinely got the sense there was not a lot of interest there to begin with.”
As the network noted, the 2024 State of the Union will be just two days after Super Tuesday and three days after the scheduled start date of Trump’s trial related to his efforts to allegedly overturn the 2020 election.
Predictably, social media responses to the story were mixed… here’s a quick sampling from X:

We have become addicted to news of this man, the drama, the circus. It’s hateful. It helps perpetuate him.

This is an excellent idea. President Trump represents the path out of this monumental failure of the Biden Administration.
