NY Dem accused of threatening ‘b*tch’ colleague that she’d ‘slice’ her throat – offers weak apology

A New York Democrat allegedly threatened to “slice” a colleague’s throat over a failed vote to remove her from her position, a reaction that landed her name in the news for all the wrong reasons.

Councilwoman Tasha Diaz who is the Democrat majority leader on the Yonkers City Council copped an extremely negative attitude toward Councilwoman Corazon Pineda-Isaac who wanted to oust her from the top job, alleged to have been heard stating that she wanted to “slice this b*tch’s throat” while she was still in the council chamber,” according to the New York Post.

Multiple people reportedly overheard Diaz’s remarks which took place during a January 2 reorganization meeting, the outlet reported, citing local news sources.

Rightly disturbed by her fellow councilmember’s violent language, Pineda-Isaac filed a complaint with City Hall, claiming that Diaz has also made previous derogatory comments about her.

“Imagine how I felt being made aware of that,” Pineda-Isaac wrote. “Imagine coming to work and having to sit next to someone who has made such violent remarks.”

She also said that Diaz once called her a “backwards b*tch” and threatened to “smack the taste out of my mouth,” which seems to be confirmed by an audio clip posted to X, formerly Twitter, by the Yonkers Ledger.

“Elected officials need to be held to a higher standard. Threatening to slit someone’s throat and knock the taste out of someone’s mouth is violent language that crosses a line. This is beyond speaking with emphasis. It’s hostile and it needs to be addressed. I hope that my coming forward creates a space for anyone who works for the City of Yonkers to know they too can share their experiences safely,” Pineda-Isaac told News 12 Westchester.

The alleged threat had some X users giving their takes on “Democracy in action,” New York Democrat style.”

Diaz defended herself, saying that her “language was taken out of context.”

“As an elected official and a proud Yonkers resident, I have always attempted to maintain professional conduct. In politics and while fighting for the residents of my district, I often speak hyperbolically as I am very passionate for fighting for the people of my district. Language taken out of context does not give the full picture and is mainly used as metaphors. If language used has ever offended anyone, I apologize,” she said in a statement.

However, it is important to note, Councilwoman Pineda-Isaac’s claims are merely sour grapes after her dismal showing in the 2023 Mayoral Primary election, where not one democratic colleague on the council supported her candidacy,” Diaz added.
