Jeffrey Epstein’s brother starts spilling what he knows about feds and ‘cover-up’ in alleged suicide

Convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein was found dead in a cell at the Manhattan Correction Center in New York on August 10, 2019, and despite the high profile nature of the case then-Attorney General Bill Barr would describe the ensuing course of events a “perfect storm of screw-ups.”

And people wonder why the public is fascinated with Esptein and cannot leave the story alone. Mark Epstein, the late billionaire’s brother is not so fascinated as he is intellectually curious about what transpired and he is challenging the official version of events, according to the New York Post.

Chief among the comedy of errors is that the cameras in the Secure Housing Unit where Epstein was being held were not working that night. In addition, Epstein was left alone in a cell in violation of prison psychologists’ direct orders. A cellmate had been assigned to the cell, but he was transferred to another facility less than 24 hours before Epstein’s death.

Adding to the “perfect storm,” the prison guards were fast asleep while Epstein allegedly killed himself.

“I only want to look at facts, but when we consider the facts available we get more questions,” Epstein told The Post.

“There appears to have been no investigation once it was ruled a suicide, they saw no reason to dig deeper,” he added. “It seems like a cover-up. Why can’t I find his pre-hospital care report and why can’t I get the 911 call?”

Interestingly, there were reportedly no photos taken of Epstein’s body when he was found – the position of his body goes a long way toward determining how he died.

What we do know is that two medical examiners were present for Epstein’s autopsy, Dr. Kristin Roman and Dr. Michael Baden. As the Post noted, Mark Epstein commissioned Baden to independently oversee the procedure.

There was an agreement to list the manner of death as “pending,” and state that further investigation was required. That decision was overruled a week later by New York Chief Medical Examiner Barbara Samson, who changed it to suicide after claiming she had seen undisclosed “additional evidence,” according to the article.

More from the Post:

Baden said Epstein had two breaks on each side of his thyroid cartilage near his Adam’s apple, and one above it on the left side of his hyoid bone, which were “extremely unusual in suicidal hangings” and “could occur much more commonly in homicidal strangulation.”

Baden added: “I’ve not seen in 50 years where that occurred in a suicidal hanging case.”

Autopsy photos show the marks on Epstein’s throat from the ligature were in the middle-to-lower portion of the neck, and straight, not raised and pointing toward the side and back of the throat in a way more consistent with hanging.

The DOJ  said in its investigation that Epstein was found “suspended from the top bunk in a near-seated position, with his buttocks approximately 1 inch to 1 inch and a half off the floor.”

While this would leave his legs on the ground in front of him, most of Epstein’s bodyweight was bearing down on the sheet he used as a noose — among the litany of errors, there were two nooses found on the cell, and while the guard who found him said he ripped and cut the sheet to free it from Epstein’s neck, that was not the noose taken in as evidence.

“The submitted and photographed noose was a whole piece of cloth with a hemmed edge and no staining or fluids, despite allegedly being around Epstein’s neck when he died,” the Post reported.

Equally interesting is that Epstein had a sleep apnea machine in his cell. As his brother pointed out, the machine had an electrical cord that would have been easier to use than a sheet.

The oddities continue. Despite it being standard protocol, the attending EMTs were not interviewed. Hospital staff would also be interviewed by police, yet the pre-hospital Care Report for Epstein “can’t be found,” according to hospital staff. Despite the autopsy showing Epstein was dead anywhere from 2-6 hours before he was found, he was placed in a hospital gown on a gurney when take to the hospital. The 911 call made from the prison has also never been released.

There appears to be indications that Epstein may have been suicidal, which should have heightened the guards awareness. The inmate transferred out at the last minute, Efrain ‘Stone’ Reyes, said that Epstein seemed “depressed” and “didn’t want to live anymore,” according to the New York Daily News. The paper quoted another inmate who said Epstein “was saying he’s going to kill himself because the government is trying to kill him anyway.”
