Dr. Fauci sits for 7 hours in private with Congress; Rand Paul notes every insidious ‘lie’ in EPIC thread

Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) unloaded on a familiar target on the day that truth-challenged retired bureaucrat Dr. Anthony Fauci was set to answer questions on the COVID crisis.

On Monday, the longtime head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) who became the most powerful bureaucrat in history during the height of the pandemic was grilled in a closed-door meeting of the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic.

Well familiar with the 83-year-old Fauci’s aversion to giving straight answers, the Kentucky Republican took to X to express skepticism that Fauci would tell the truth, jabbing the elfin immunologist again and again in an epic lengthy thread posted to the social media platform.

“Everyone knows the old joke about detecting when a certain person is lying…Just check to see if their lips are moving,” the senator began. “In Anthony Fauci, a better test is simply to compare what he says privately away from the cameras with his public pronouncements, as his private words frequently directly contradict the many lies he tells in public.”

“My best estimate is that Fauci will answer ‘I don’t recall’ more than 100 times over the next two days of testimony,” Paul added, words that turned out to be prophetic.

“It’s been very cooperative in there. We’ve asked a lot of questions. Dr. Fauci responds in the best way he can. I will say that there may be over 100 or so far ‘I don’t recall’ or ‘I don’t remember’ answers,” Rep. Brad Wenstrup (R-OH) who chairs the committee told reporters on Monday.

In the rest of Senator Paul’s thread, he dissected Fauci’s lies with surgical precision.

“There’s nothing more conclusive than catching a liar lying with his own words!” Paul concluded.

“Dr. Fauci’s testimony today uncovered drastic and systemic failures in America’s public health systems. While leading the nation’s COVID-19 response and influencing public narratives, he simultaneously had no idea what was happening under his own jurisdiction at NIAID,” Rep. Wenstrup said in a statement following Fauci’s testimony.

“Dr. Fauci signed off on all domestic and foreign research grants without reviewing the proposals and admitted that he was unaware if NIAID conducted oversight of the laboratories they fund. Clearly, the American people and the United States government are operating with completely different expectations about the responsibilities of our public health leaders and the accountability of our public health agencies,” the statement read.

Fauci will be back for round two on Tuesday and likely will be plagued by the same convenient memory lapses that allow him to weasel out of giving a direct answer to what he knew and when he knew it about the historic national health catastrophe that he presided over.
