Don Jr. says he’ll go to great lengths to stop dad from picking Nikki Haley as veep

Donald Trump Jr. has made it clear where he stands amid recent reports that his father was considering Nikki Haley as his running mate, should he eventually be the 2024 Republican nominee.

“I wouldn’t have her and I would go to great lengths to make sure that that doesn’t happen,” Trump Jr. told Newsmax host Eric Bolling.

“Nikki Haley wants never-ending wars. She’s a puppet of the establishment in Washington, D.C.,” he added. “She’s the new favorite candidate of the billionaire class because they want control— no different than academia and Harvard and using their billions to exercise influence.”

The Nikki Haley veepee talk took off when CBS reported that Donald Trump asked confidants for their thoughts about her serving as vice president, CBS reported.

The former president’s daughter-in-law added fuel to the fire when she said during an appearance on Newsmax, “Crazier things have happened. I would never say never with Donald J. Trump.”

Haley has been surging in some recent polls, although there is plenty of speculation that this is media-generated given her more moderate stance on issues. She did address the prospect of being Trump’s running mate back in August, essentially shutting down persistent claims that she was running to get the vice presidency.

“I think everybody that says, ‘She’s doing this to be vice president,’ needs to understand I don’t run for second,” she said, according to Politico. “That’s something that I hear all the time, and I’ll tell you that, look, we have a country to save, and I don’t trust anybody else to do it.”

The former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations under Trump has suggested that “chaos follows” her old boss and Haley’s campaign launched its first ad of the primary in November, urging Americans to “to leave behind the chaos and drama of the past.”

U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) echoed Don Jr.’s concerns about Haley earlier this month.

“MAGA would revolt if Nikki Haley were to even be given an internship in Trump’s next administration,” the Trump supporter said in a tweet. “She represents the neocon establishment America last wing of the Republican Party that we are absolutely done with. Also, she lied and said she would not run against Trump.”
