Disgruntled RINOs Liz Cheney, Chris Christie and Mitt Romney talk incessantly about Donald Trump’s second Presidency as the “end of Democracy.” I am trying to add it up.
These past three years have been the most un-Democratic in memory!
A lot stemmed from an overreaction to the COVID pandemic. The shutdowns and masking mandates bordered on tyranny! The government and their complicit “three-letter” agency accomplices did all things conceivable to scare the living socks off the population!
On the darker side, a lot of people have been apparently maimed by an experimental shot. Many took the injection under protest, claiming that the alternative was job termination. Government, including their deep state associates, prodded private corporations into compliance.
Worse still, censorship showed its ugly head in a manner not seen since World War Two. There was even a movement to establish a “Ministry of Truth.” The new assertion declared war on “disinformation.” Most glaring was that anything departing from the government’s narrative was called, “disinformation.” Those alleging the “disinformation” were labeled “conspiracy theorists.”
Sounds dangerously close to a previous government on the other side of the planet. That government explained to the world that they were “defending the revolution.” As in “controlling the narrative.” We must not be led astray by “counter-revolutionaries,” they pointed out.
Thus, if “conspiracy theorists” allege “disinformation” that questions the present system, they will be ridiculed, chastised or worse. Open discussion will be disallowed! After all, it is the system that is under attack!
Where Trump Went Off the Rails with the Political Class
Donald Trump was part of that elite ruling class. He had benefited from a brilliant, insightful father who had carved his place the old-fashioned way. Along the way, Donald John Trump’s evolution can be interpreted in numerous ways. One thing is for certain: He saw a lot. It’s called “life experience.”
Analytical by nature, Trump recognized many things that could be done better and for less money. A prime example was the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem.
Trump saw that the tax system catered to those who could afford to hire top-tier tax professionals. Through these professionals’ innate knowledge of the tax system, affluent Americans were able to lower their tax exposure. In some cases, drastically. Trump called it, “a rigged system.”
Trump was astounded by the greed demonstrated by Fortune 500 businesses. In making use of overseas, sweatshop labor, stockholder returns were increased, at the expense of America’s blue-collar working class.
Trump always had a problem with illegal immigration. He historically favored a merit-based immigration standard. He openly criticized both Democrat and Neocon initiatives of using the immigration system to “recruit future voters” and “capitalize on cheap, undocumented labor costs, here at home.”
“Draining the Swamp:” A Monumental Undertaking
Trump may have underestimated the sheer depth of the administrative state. On the campaign trail, he vowed to “drain the swamp.” Once the commencement was in action he learned, quoting Videk Ramaswamy, “when he removed the first log, he found out how much was under it.”
Credit the Heritage Foundation for calling to America’s attention, that 95% of federal bureaucrats contributed to the Democrat party in 2020. Heritage’s aim is to replace Democrats in the bureaucracy with Republicans. Ramaswamy proposed eliminating 75% of the administrative state.
A faster, more seamless method may to adopt the “Hires Act.”This highly practical initiative would move headquarters from a dozen federal agencies to cities in closer proximity to high service areas, such as The Bureau of Land Management’s move from Washington to Grand Junction, Colorado. Trump supported Senators Blackburn and Hawley’s effort. The plan was underway in 2019. Then came COVID and the election.
The election brought out a fear of government that America has not endured internally since the Civil War. January 6th detainees were reminded that it was Abraham Lincoln who had initially suspended the Writ of Habeus Corpus! The suspension was never repealed.
Members of both parties shared the brief period of histrionics that accompanied COVID. Republicans were faster to snap out it. Democrats seemed to like it! Biden owns the campaign against “disinformation.” The pandemic brought our Fascist tendencies in several Democrat Governors including California’s, Gavin Newsome and Kentucky’s Steve Beshear.
The Social Media giants have been an important ally for the Biden Administration. They were immediately on board with the President’s war on “disinformation.” Conservative voices have been silenced with a voracity that would have impressed Joseph Stalin!
Neo-Cons Finding Increasing Commonalities with Democrats
Trump did make enemies with the likes of Cheney, Christie and Romney! He has essentially vowed to end or greatly alter everything that they believe in, beginning with funding pre-emptive wars in far-a-way places at taxpayers’ expense!
For them, “Democracy” translates to “free trade.” As with Democrats, they like the government more concentrated in one central proximity, due to their connections with key members of the administrative state. Like the Democrats, Neocons see the President as the “elected ambassador to the administrative state.”
