‘Ireland, we are at war’: Conor McGregor triggers backlash with his take on Dublin crisis

Legendary mixed martial artist Conor McGregor angered all the right people this week with his fiery takes on the crisis in Dublin, Ireland.

As previously reported, riots erupted in Dublin this week after an alleged migrant stabbed several children and a woman.

In response to the riots, Irish authorities such as police commissioner Drew Harris blamed the “far-right” versus, you know, the migrants stabbing people.

This angered McGregor, who was born in Dublin.

“Innocent children ruthlessly stabbed by a mentally deranged non-national in Dublin, Ireland today. Our chief of police had this to say on the riots in the aftermath. Drew, not good enough,” he wrote on X.

“There is grave danger among us in Ireland that should never be here in the first place, and there has been zero action done to support the public in any way, shape or form with this frightening fact. NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Make change or make way. Ireland for the victory God bless those attacked today, we pray ,” he added.

In additional tweets, he declared that Ireland is at war (presumably with migrants) and that the country is reaping what it’s sown with its lax immigration laws:

McGregor continued by slamming the authorities for their lack of action as it pertains to the alleged migrant stabber.

“Any update on the wellbeing of those stabbed today? Absolutely horrific scenes all day, my stomach is churning. With no action being taken at all during these ever more frequent events, like literally zero action taken whatsoever, how do we expect an end to this? We need reform. WE NEED ACTION!” he wrote.

He also slammed top Irish officials for their meaningless “statements.”

“I don’t care about president higgins statement. Or Varadkars statement. Or Mary Lou’s. Or Justice McEntee’s. Or Garda commissioner’s. Announce our plan of action!! What are we waiting for? Your statements of nothing are absolutely worthless to the solving of this issue. Take Action!! Fix this situation IMMEDIATELY!” he wrote.

His bold, blunt take attracted massive support on X, where he was flooded with comments from those who completely agreed with him.

Conversely, his take inspired anger from elitists, including so-called “journalists” and other uppity hacks such as Micheál Martin, the deputy head of the government of Ireland.

“There’s been many comments online I’ve watched of that type which are absolutely disgraceful and we have a parliamentary democracy and we value that. The Irish people do as well. Isolated voices like that and voices that are essentially inciting hate and a degree to some extent incitement, are unacceptable,” he said, according to the Irish Independent.

Other elitists quickly followed suit (*Language warning):

The migrant who committed the stabbings has since been identified as an Irish citizen who immigrated to Ireland 20 years ago.

As for McGregor, he stressed in additional tweets that he doesn’t support the riots — but that he does understand the sentiment behind them.

“I do not condone last nights riots. I do not condone any attacks on our first responders in their line of duty. I do not condone looting and the damaging of shops. Last nights scenes achieved nothing toward fixing the issues we face. I do understand frustrations however, and I do understand a move must be made to ensure the change we need is ushered in. And fast!” he wrote.

“I am in the process of arranging. Believe me I am way more tactical and I have backing. There will be change in Ireland, mark my words. The change needed. In the last month, innocent children stabbed leaving school. Ashling Murphy murdered. Two Sligo men decapitated. This is NOT Ireland’s future! If they do not act soon with their plan of action to ensure Ireland’s safety, I will,” he added.
