‘The Rock’ meets up with senators to discuss plummeting military recruitment amid rising global tensions

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson met up with several top congressional senators on Capitol Hill this Wednesday to talk about military recruitment.

Democrat Sen. Jon Tester, who reportedly arranged the meet-up, said Johnson is “going to advocate for people to join the military over a period of time,” according to D.C. station WRC.

Also in attendance was Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, in addition to Sens. Dick Durbin, Mark Kelly, Susan Collins, Todd Young, Lindsey Graham, and Tammy Duckworth.

“I’m really pleased that he’s helping with military recruitment. I think he is a powerful influencer,” Collins reportedly said, adding that she “got as many pictures with him as I possibly could.”

The meeting came following a recent Associated Press report revealing that the Army’s recruitment goals fell short in the most recent fiscal year.

“Last year, the Army fell 15,000 short of its enlistment goal of 60,000 while competing with higher-paying companies in a tight job market and trying to overcome two years of the coronavirus pandemic, which shut down access to schools and public events,” the AP reported on Oct. 3rd.

“In the fiscal year that ended Saturday, the Army brought in a bit more than 50,000 recruits, falling short of the publicly stated ‘stretch goal’ of 65,000,” the AP added.

While at the Capitol, Johnson also met with the U.S. Capitol Police:

During another point in his Capitol visit, Johnson was asked whether he’s running for president, but he ignored the question.

The question was asked about a week after, an appearance on comedian Trevor Noah’s “What Now?” podcast, Johnson revealed that he’d been pressured last year to run for president.

“At the end of the year … in 2022, I got a visit from the parties, asking me if I was going to run and if I could run. It was a big deal. And it came out of the blue. And it was one after the other,” he said.

Then a couple of days later on “The Tonight Show,” Johnson told host Jimmy Fallon that he’s been facing this sort of pressure for years.

“This run-for-president talk has kind of been in the ether for the past couple of years, and it never stops being surreal,” he said.

The pressure continues to this day. In fact, on the same day as Johnson’s visit to the Capitol, The Washington Post deputy opinion editor and columnist David Von Drehle published a column seriously claiming only Johnson can beat former President Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election.

“What I do know is that Johnson is a boss who asks at business meetings, ‘How do we deliver joy?’ Who says, ‘It’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice.’ A man who says he can’t run for president this year because he wants to be a good father — a sentiment I admire even as I wish he would reconsider,” the stunning piece reads.

“American politics is sleepwalking toward disaster. Dwayne Johnson is the man to wake us up,” it continues.

Hilariously enough, the column was ratioed on X by the Post’s deliriously pro-Biden zealots.
