Tuba player punches out heckler at college football game while playing – without missing a beat

It’s bad enough to get punched out by a tuba player, but it was how a member of the Texas Southern band did it that really stood out.

The incident occurred Saturday during a college football contest between Texas Southern and Jackson State after the tuba player was reportedly being heckled by an over-zealous Jackson State fan.

According to various accounts, the tuba player reacted after being spit on by the fan who was in his face giving him the what for while maintaining a death grip on what appears to be a can of beer.

Unfortunately for the fan, the band member’s patience eventually expires and he takes a “brief interlude,” redirecting his attention from his instrument to the man’s face, punching him several times in his kisser before someone grabs the fool and pulls him away. But the kicker here is that the band member returned to playing his tuba as if nothing had ever happened.

The tuba player can be heard clearly in one video telling the fan, “F**k off, b*tch” — wise advice offered that the man should have heeded.

It’s not clear if there were any legal repercussions for either party or if the unruly fan sustained any serious injuries. The one thing the battered heckler did have going for him is that Jackson State won the game 21-19.

The brouhaha, such as it was, resulted in plenty of online jocularity… here’s a quick sampling of some of the responses to the story from X:
