Kamala-reboot number 362. Not being mean, but … NOPE.

Vice President Kamala Harris has reportedly been attempting yet another “reboot” to win over support from a public that simply doesn’t like her.

“Harris has taken on a more forward-facing role as she seeks to re-introduce herself to skeptics within the Democratic Party and the broader electorate heading into an election year,” The Messenger reported Thursday.

She has, for example, exposed herself to the media by sitting down with them — CBS’ “60 Minutes,” “NBC’s “Face the Nation,” The New York Times, The Atlantic, etc. — for a “media blitz.”

She’s also worked quietly “to overcome lingering issues, including her sagging poll numbers, negative news stories and a rash of staff departures.”

And she’s allegedly “taken the lead” on issues like artificial intelligence …

“[S]he has become the White House point person on other policy issues, including gun control and abortion rights,” the Messenger notes.

“She’s also traveled the country on a college tour in an effort to mobilize students to ‘fight for their rights’ – as the White House put it – on issues including voting rights, LGBTQ+ equality and book bans,” according to the outlet.

She’s also increased her public outreach efforts, most recently by hosting an event at the Naval Observatory honoring hip-hop music’s 50th anniversary.

And this upcoming Friday, she’ll host a virtual event reportedly to entice liberal women to start involving themselves in politics.

Meanwhile, President Joe Biden’s own aides have been praising her on X:

Yet despite all this effort, she still maintains a net -17.2 average favorability rating, according to RealClearPolitics. Why?

“I think there was a realization that they [the White House] needed to do a better job telling the story. Not just his, but hers,” one unnamed Democrat consultant close to the White House said to The Messenger.

Especially since her low favorability appears to be affecting the president’s favorability as well.

“Harris’ low standing has opened the door for GOP presidential candidates to attack her, while also playing to voter concerns about Biden’s age. While vice presidents typically reside in the background, Republicans, and more privately, some Democrats, have warned that Harris could end up as president if something were to happen to the 80-year-old Biden – and that she isn’t up to the challenge,” The Messenger notes.

The Messenger further notes that, despite previous efforts to boost Harris’s image failing, the president’s team is seeking “to underline the work she’s done to put her and the president in a stronger position ahead of the general election.”

“Democrats had worried in prior months that Harris – who didn’t have any public events on her schedule for more than half of May, for instance – wasn’t being utilized in the right ways,” according to The Messenger.

“They need as many surrogates as possible and the number one surrogate needs to be the vice president. So rehabbing her image in a way where she can go out there and be stronger, I think is important,” one Democrat strategist said.

But will it make a difference this late in the game? Critics say no, especially since the VP appears to have no substantive accomplishments under her belt.

All this said, one of Harris’ biggest problems is the enormously high turnover rate in her office.

“Her speechwriter Dave Cavell was scheduled to leave his role this week. … That follows other recent departures, including Grisella Martin, Harris’ legislative director, who joined the vice president in that role a little more than a year ago. … Carmel Martin, who took on the role of policy adviser for Harris last year, also recently departed,” according to The Messenger.
