Christie doubles down on vow to stalk and confront Trump: ‘Get ready’

Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie vowed that he’s going to come face-to-face with current frontrunner Donald J. Trump one way or another.

The former New Jersey governor has been unable to fulfill his mission as a human torpedo who would sink the former president’s campaign in front of a national television audience on a debate stage with Trump so far declining to participate due to his practically insurmountable lead.

Not content to trash his former ally in the media where he has maintained a constant presence, the blustering former federal prosecutor doubled down on his previous pledge to stalk Trump, posting a clip of his remarks to reporters on X, the platform previously known as Twitter.

“Don’t worry, @realDonaldTrump. Debate stage or coming out of a building, you’ll have to face me one way or another,” Christie wrote. “Get ready.”

“Earlier this year, you said you were the best equipped of all the rivals to take him down on the debate stage, well he’s not on the debate stage,” Fox News national political reporter Paul Steinhauser asked Christie about backing up his tough talk about stalking Trump. “You said you would seek him out and you will confront him… where does that stand?”

“Get ready Paul,” Christie responded. “Paul, get ready. That’s all I’m gonna tell you.”

“Because if I give him and the Secret Service a tip on where I’m gonna be, it’ll be a lot harder for me to get to him,” the candidate added. “Remember, he’s the only guy walking around with Secret Service protection, ok?”

“So that makes all of this a little more complicated,” he said. “But I also was in law enforcement so just hang with me. We got a hundred and plus days til the primary, Donald Trump and I will come face to face, whether it’s on a debate stage or whether it’s when he’s walking out of a building somewhere.”

In another X post, Christie took a shot at his fellow GOP candidates.

“Every other candidate is auditioning to be in @realDonaldTrump’s cabinet. Im not. I’m running to beat him and be President of the United States,” he wrote.

During a September Fox News appearance, Christie revealed his strategy to confront the elusive Trump to “MediaBuzz” host Howard Kurtz.

“Wherever he goes, I’ll go,” vowed Christie. “And we’ll wind up talking to each other one way or the other and he knows that’s true.”

“You’re gonna change your travel schedule?” Kurtz asked. “To go where Trump goes, just so I’m clear.”

“You bet,” the former governor answered, ready to shift tactics if that’s what it takes to go human kamikaze on the frontrunner, his mission from the get-go that he had boasted about well before he officially jumped into the race.
