Marines spearhead massive fight to save all-boys school from co-ed wokeness

Op-ed views and opinions expressed are solely those of the author.

As the astute and eloquent Tucker Carlson once said, “The most boring word in journalism is “I”.”

He’s not wrong and “me” is a close second. However, the story of the Kiski School, one of the oldest boys preparatory schools in the country, going co-ed after 135 years accidentally became extremely important to me. The narrative surrounding this school should matter to every parent, as it’s happening in nearly every school across America.

My husband, Craig Spitzer is a 1983 graduate of the school who attributes much of his success to the structure, foundation and support provided by the all-boys education at Kiski. After he received a call from another graduate, Matt Marcenelle, who told him that the school was planning on going co-ed, I knew there was going to be a problem.

As someone who works with Charlie Kirk’s Turning Point USA, a group dedicated to preserving conservative values for young people in both high school and college, I am intimately familiar with the calculated, meticulous, well-planned attacks by woke ideologues who are intent on destroying our schools with gender confusion, anti-Americanism, manufactured racial tension, socialism, and false history.

I knew instantly that the Kiski story was no different. This wasn’t about “evolving with the times” or “finding new channels of profitability,” as one administrator said in confidence. It was about taking a knee to the liberal mob and ruining the values of a small school founded in 1888.

Profitability and evolution were a smokescreen. Kiski top brass circulated a June 23, 2020 e-mail essentially calling the school “systemically racist” while also privately alleging to be led by Republicans. “Kiski will publish a new strategic plan in the fall, which will include projects related to developing and sustaining an anti-racist school culture and redesigning elements of our curriculum to include more topics related to race and equity,” the pandering missive reads.

Such language doesn’t sound like that of strong conservatives.

Skipping ahead slightly, when a high-level Kiski administrator found out that I was involved to help with media coverage, he scoffed to a Kiski graduate, that I was “Just a QVC Home Shopping host.” Although irrelevant, I did spend time on- air at QVC and loved it, but that was nearly a decade ago. His intent was to belittle me and insinuate that I had no power to effectuate change. This was a passive-aggressive attempt to diminish my abilities provided by a cum laude broadcasting degree, law degree, hundreds of high-level media contacts, and a 15-year journalism career that spans thousands of hours on Fox News, Newsmax, Sky News, One America News, even CNN and MSNBC.

All of this came out in a meeting between school administrators and Kiski graduates who simply wanted to honor the founding documents of Kiski and preserve the all-boys education for young men of every race, creed, color, and socioeconomic status. The men walked away from their conversation feeling dismissed, demeaned, and ridiculed, so they knew swift action was required to save the school, as the board was meeting imminently to rubber-stamp the decision to go co-ed.

The concerned alums started digging and found even more troubling information.

They already knew that the school had expanded its board to include some extremely woke members, but that just was the tip of the iceberg. According to public records, Kiski has several (often lucrative) oil and gas wells on school property. This was most likely never disclosed to the Kiski families, parents or community in terms of environmental impact, health implications, or financial consideration.

Even more suspicious is the school’s relationship with Communist China.

Facebook posts show that the school created a “partnership program” and “positive synergistic experience” between Kiski and the National Foreign Language School in Huai’an China. This involved several administrators taking a 2019 trip to the CCP, resulting in both a student and teacher exchange program and a Kiski curriculum at the National Foreign Language School.

Needless to say, there is little chance that this agreement was an act of altruism, but rather one for massive profit. It is well documented that several high-level CCP officials have matriculated from this school. It is also common knowledge that the Chinese Communist Party has infiltrated American schools with Confucius institutes to spy on American citizens.

Knowing that sunlight is the best disinfectant, I started working with the concerned Kiski graduates, who now formed the Friends of Kiski Prep to get as much exposure as possible. I first wrote a short piece here, on BizPac Review, then worked intimately with Major Matt Marcenelle, a 1984 grad and Marine combat veteran.

A very persistent and humble Mr. Marcenelle says “he has a face for radio,” which is completely untrue. After several emails, phone calls and texts, I agreed, to help him get on TV to tell his story. I knew it would be seen as personal and inspiring to parents across the country as well as let the Kiski board know that eyes were on them. Matt, who has never been in front of a camera, bought a webcam, downloaded Skype and bravely told his story on both Real America’s Voice with Dr. Gina Loudon and One America News with Dan Ball. Fox News will likely be next.

The media coverage created big waves within the small Kiski community, enough to show the board that the Friends of Kiski Prep meant business. The board delayed their vote on a coeducational program and will reconvene on Wednesday, September 27th.

The fear is that the board doesn’t believe in the endurance of the mission and will try to sneak a vote in while no one is looking.  Friends of Kiski have vowed not to back down. This group is composed of several Marines, all former wrestlers and successful executives. It would be unwise for a board member to underestimate the moral fortitude of such men.

As 1985 graduate and Marine Sergeant Joe Garcia said, “We are resolved in our commitment to save our cherished school as support from both alumni and beyond is growing exponentially. This is just the beginning of our fight and we will not take our feet off the gas.”

You may be asking yourself why should I care about a small, boys’ school outside of Pittsburgh, Pa.? Because, rest assured, if it’s happening in Saltsburg, Pennsylvania, it is occurring everywhere. Not just in single-sex education schools, but also in public, private and religious, the evil is everywhere. Our children are being indoctrinated: boys are dominating in girl sports, six-year-olds are being told they can be any gender, kids are not learning the Pledge of Allegiance, and schools are failing in math, reading, history and science. This is not an accident. It is a plan.

Just as the Friends of Kiski prep had no intention of becoming television guests, political advocates or outspoken whistleblowers subjected to criticism, you may have to do the same and that’s how “I” and “me” become “you” quickly. We all must speak up on behalf of our children. We cannot rely on the endeavors of others. We cannot sit idly by with apathy or fear, as the future of our children and country are at stake.
