Tyranny of the minority - The left’s plan to transform America into Venezuela

We are engaged in an ideological war for the future of America. This is not a war of armies and weapons and regional animosity—it is a war of visions.

One faction in this war, known as the Right or conservative side, champions basic American values: individual rights, freedom of speech, acceptance of personal responsibility, the rule of law, meritocracy, equality of opportunity, the US Constitution. The other faction, known as the Left or progressive liberal side, militates for increased government control, limitations on free speech, replacement of capitalism with socialism, a reduction in American influence and affluence, and a dysfunctional version of social justice.

The American Left and its senior partners—the Democratic Party, mainstream media, academia, Hollywood, and Big Tech—are intent on destroying the institutions and values that make America great. By redistributing income and increasing the size of government and its encroachment on our lives, the Left wants to turn the country into Venezuela.

Joe Biden and the Democrats are overseeing massive political and sociological damage. Their policies represent the replacement of meritocracy with identity politics, equality with equity, capitalism with Marxism and the Green New Deal, and competence with senility. Biden’s biggest lie to date is his statement, “I’ve been hired to solve problems, not create division.” Our country has not been this divided since the Civil War.

This new civil war is much more intimate than the old one. Instead of North pitted against South, we have friend against friend, neighbor against neighbor, brother against sister, wife against husband. It may be happening on your street or even in your bedroom. Try as you may, you cannot escape its tentacles. Author Mark Levin calls this phenomenon the “balkanization” of society. The Left’s objective, Levin says, is to “collapse the existing society” by dividing the people against themselves.

As described in my book, TYRANNY OF THE MINORITY: How the Left is Destroying America, the most alarming danger posed by the new civil war is the possibility that the United States could evolve into a totalitarian state within a few short years. Our system of government is strong because of checks and balances, especially the existence of multiple political parties. Now try this on for size: A rogue political party seeks a take-over of the federal government by forcing the other party out, ending checks and balances. Isn’t that what happens in totalitarian states, you ask, not in the good old USA? Well think again, because that is the precise aim of the Democratic Party.

The Democrats have figured out that they can rule unchallenged by opening the border to millions of “refugees” who are expected to vote for Democratic candidates. “If we can’t get enough Americans to vote Democrat, we will have to import them.” If you think I am simply an alarmist, remember that the Democrats have already succeeded in making the Republican Party irrelevant in California, New York, and Illinois. In those jurisdictions, Republican voters have effectively been disenfranchised. The Democrats are working overtime to do the same thing in Texas, Virginia, New Jersey, and other key states. If they had captured Texas in 2016, Hillary would be president—that’s how close it is.

The new ideology of the Left is known as woke, which really amounts to a grab for power by vocal minority groups. Minority mouthpieces are not satisfied with acceptance or equality. Gloria Steinem believes that “the best man for the job is a woman.” Rev. Al Sharpton wants blacks to run the show, to be “more equal.” Muslims want to supplant the Constitution with Sharia. What better way to accomplish these goals than by convincing the rest of us that our traditional values are outdated.

The majority of Americans don’t accept wokeness. “The actual number of the woke remains small,” says Scott McConnell, “perhaps six percent of the population, according to Pew surveys of American political attitudes. It is educated, it is mostly white, it is heavily concentrated in the media and universities. But it isn’t powerful enough to control the country if majorities are mobilized to resist it. When wokeness is on the ballot and opposed vigorously, it loses.”

The Left is deserving of the epithet “pathological” by virtue of its compulsive, quasi-religious drive that seems to justify all sorts of extreme behavior, not the least of which is violent protest. Leftist behavior is racist, fascist, and hateful. These are a means to its actual ideological objective: The transformation of America into an authoritarian socialist nation run by an elite composed of unaccountable bureaucrats.

We can see this playing out in Europe. The objectives of the European Union are identical to those of the American Left. A cadre of unelected bureaucrats in Brussels is attempting to break down the nation-states that comprise the EU so the elite can seize control. The globalist intentions of the socialist bureaucrats who run the United Nations are weaved from the same cloth.

For the last 100 years, the Left has indulged its appetite for more and more government. We have evolved into a nation where the administrative “Deep State” makes most of the decisions with little direction from anyone. “There’s a permanent state of massive bureaucracies,” said Newt Gingrich, “that do whatever they want.” The political allegiance of the Deep State is to the progressive wing of the Democratic Party, says Professor Edward J. Erler, “the party that favors the growth and extension of administrative state power.” In short, the Democratic Party and the Deep State have coalesced into a single entity.

Acting as a fourth branch of government, the Deep State issues thousands of rules and regulations that have the same authority as acts of Congress, yet are subject to virtually no oversight by our elected representatives. Its regulations impact every aspect of our daily lives, including the food we eat, the vehicles we drive, the air we breathe, the places where we live and work, the entertainment we enjoy, the way we raise our children, how we brush our teeth, and how we make love. In 1900, a person could function perfectly well with hardly any interference from the federal government. Today it is inconceivable. The government in George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four monitors the individual’s every movement using cameras installed in the home. If the Deep State continues on its current path, that may be next.

Washington bureaucrats, most of whom are Democrats, will be the ultimate winners if the civil war is lost. The antidote to a Deep State victory is Donald Trump. He is their Kryptonite and they know it. The Mueller investigation didn’t work, impeachment didn’t work, so now they want to weaponize the justice system to destroy Trump once and for all.

Ironically, a new book with the title, Tyranny of the Minority, was just published by two left-wing Harvard professors. Their conclusion is the direct opposite of my book: They believe that conservatives are the problem and describe Donald Trump as an autocrat comparable to Hitler and Mussolini. This should not be a surprise considering that Harvard has been transformed from one of the world’s leading universities into a bastion of leftist ideology. If you want to be an informed reader, my recommendation is to examine both books and make up your own mind.

If the Left succeeds, the United States in 2043 will be unrecognizable to most of us who are alive today. It will be familiar to those who have lived in Cuba, Venezuela, or North Korea. The European public has figured out what the EU is doing and they are finally pushing back against the leftists. It may be too late for them. It’s time we did the same before it is too late for us.
