‘Sparks outside’: Terrified passengers scream as flight lands hard amid Tropical Storm Hilary

Flying already sucks, but flying into an airport that is experiencing extreme weather is an experience that is guaranteed to be unforgettable for all the wrong reasons.

Alaska Airlines experienced this first-hand as their flight into South California’s John Wayne Airport hit the runway hard, sending a shower of sparks flying. Terrified passengers can be heard swearing as the plane appears to slam into the ground. Thankfully everyone aboard the flight was able to deplane safely and was unharmed, if not a little put off flying in the future.

Watch:

In a statement regarding the frightening incident, Alaska Airlines explained that the aircraft “experienced an issue soon after landing.”

“The aircraft was unable to taxi to the gate due to an issue with its landing gear,” they noted.
