Cop charged with assault after video captures him pounding on 72-yr-old neighbor

The shocking moment an off-duty cop brutally assaults his 72-year-old neighbor was captured on video and the attack resulted in the officer being charged.

According to the victim, Harry Horsley, the altercation began when the police sergeant hit his car with a paddleboard as he was passing him.

Scott Saunders, an 18-year veteran of the Hull Police Department, which is just east of Boston, can be seen in the video taken on July 24 straddling the elderly man on the ground.

“Here I am, 72 years old. I shouldn’t be taking a punch from anybody, let alone a Police Sgt,” Horsley told Boston 25 News.

Horsley, who was left bloodied and bruised, told the affiliate that he got out of his car to confront Saunders.

“Why did you hit my car? That’s all I said,” Horsley said, adding that Saunders then pushed him down and punched him.

“He bull-rushed me down to the ground. Landed on top of me, I’m on my back. He pounded away, I’m like this trying to protect myself from getting hit worse,” Horsley said.

Pembroke Police charged Saunders with Assault and Battery on a Person Over 60, and he is on paid administrative leave from the Hull Police Department, according to Boston 25 News.

“He should have known that everything he has done, was wrong. You don’t assault somebody that’s a senior. You just don’t do it, its unheard of,” Horsley said.

Not in the year 2023 it’s not.
