Alleged Burlington shoplifters in Sacramento take internet by storm: ‘Great high speed getaway’

Shoplifters in California grow bolder by the day courtesy of criminal-friendly policies instilled by Democrats, making it nearly impossible for some retailers to remain in business.

Videos of crooks helping themselves to merchandise in one store after another permeate the internet but a particular video taken at a Burlington department store in Sacramento stands out for WHO was perpetrating the heist and the speed, or lack thereof, of their getaway.

A trio of female shoplifters, including an elderly woman and a morbidly obese woman who appeared to be suffering from massive localized lymphoedema on one of her legs, limiting her mobility, were seen unloading several shopping carts full of alleged stolen booty into a red Dodge Charger parked in a handicap parking space– somewhat remarkably, the morbidly obese woman was the getaway driver.

“Damn, look at these people stealing. Say hi to the camera,” a bystander filming the apparent heist can be heard saying in the footage:

The video clearly captured the vehicle’s license plate, creating a major clue for law enforcement but the odds of the crime being prosecuted are not great — equally poor are the odds that Burlington will opt to press charges if given the opportunity.

“We are aware of the incident. Officers responded, a police report was generated and it is an active investigation,” the Sacramento Police Department told the Daily Mail.

Having created a scenario where there are few, if any consequences for shoplifting there is no wonder it is a rampant problem in the deep blue state.

In the end, honest consumers are the ones paying the price, whether it’s higher costs or being forced to shop in retail outlets that resemble Fort Knox.

CNN shared a video this week of a locked-down Walgreens in San Francisco — take a look below and imagine the hassle of shopping in a store where pretty much everything is behind lock and key:

Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on Twitter:
