‘Privileged’ Disney heiress virtue signals her way into handcuffs at private jet protest

Abigail Disney, the “woke” heiress to the Disney franchise, was arrested on Long Island this Friday for participating in a disruptive climate change protest.

Disney joined members of New York Communities for Change, Planet Over Profit and Sunrise Movement NYC — all veritable left-wing extremist groups — to specifically protest and disrupt the “exclusive vacations of wealthy fossil fuel investors and polluters driving the climate crisis,” according to a press release obtained by Fox News.

As a person who has been privileged enough to use private jets, I know it’s hard to give up a luxury that is special. But I also know that the time has passed for spewing greenhouse gasses like this merely for our personal comfort,” Disney said in a statement of her own.

“The events of the past week alone, with Earth’s average temperature hitting an all time high, drought and fatal heat waves across the country, floods in Vermont and New York, and ocean temperatures around Florida well over 90 degrees, should remove all doubt once and for all. The wealthiest 1% uses as much greenhouse gas as the entire bottom 50%. It is time for real change and this is the most obvious place to start,” she added.

“These same rich people farting into the Hamptons on private jets are often the ones who make their money in industries that hugely accelerate the climate crisis,” Planet Over Profit organizer Teddy Ogborn likewise said.

“As long as the 1% continues to needlessly poison our air and heat our earth, we will continue to escalate our actions against them,” he added.

Citing photos and videos, Fox News notes that “Disney and the other protesters formed a blockade at the main entrance of East Hampton Airport which serves private and charter flights, not commercial.”

“It is situated in the Hamptons, a ritzy community in eastern Long Island that is home to a number of celebrities and affluent residents,” according to Fox News.

The Friday protest is reportedly one of many the left-wing groups have planned.

“On Saturday, activists will hold a ‘Tax the Rich for Climate Justice’ march; on Sunday, they will protest near the private Sebonack Golf Course in Southampton; and on Monday, they are rallying outside the home of a Citibank board member with pitchforks,” according to Fox News.

Disney has been railing about private jets for a while now, although she herself grew up using them virtually all the time.

“My dad’s plane was a 737, and it was insane to have a 737 as a private airplane. It had a queen-sized bed with one big, long seatbelt across it and a shower, and it was ridiculous. We would use the plane occasionally because I have four kids, so it was much easier, obviously, to ride on my dad’s plane with them,” she said in a 2019 interview with The Cut.

In the interview, she also revealed when she first stopped using private jets.

“The moment for me, when I decided I couldn’t fly in (my father’s private jet) anymore, was about 20 years ago. I had to fly out to California for a meeting, but I had to get back to New York by the next morning for a conference. And the guy who ran our family’s company put me on the 737 alone,” she said.

“I flew across the country overnight, by myself on that giant plane, and I was sitting there thinking about the carbon footprint and the number of flight attendants and the other pilot on-call and what it was costing, and I just wanted to be sick. By the way, my parents always made fun of the fact that I thought it was terrible and awful because they were very comfortable with what they were doing,” she added.

Many critics feel similarly to her parents. In fairness, however, there are those who give credit to Disney for at least practicing what she preaches — something that’s extraordinarily rare among wealthy leftists:
