NY Dem with million-dollar home BLASTED for whining about student debt: ‘Should have taken an economics course’

A former far-left New York State senator reportedly worth millions is being roasted for complaining about her alleged student loan debt.

Following the Supreme Court’s decision Friday to invalidate President Joe Biden’s unconstitutional student loan relief plan, former state Sen. Alessandra Biaggi took to Twitter to cry foul.

“In 2012, I graduated from Fordham Law School with $180,000 is student loan debt. I’ve been paying loans for 11 years. Even paid two of them off completely. In 2023, my balance is $206,000,” she tweeted.

But her attempt to elicit sympathy/empathy for student loan borrowers quickly fell by the wayside once her critics realized she’s worth millions. She’s worth enough, in fact, that in August she bought a $1.14 million home in Bedford.

“Biaggi … has just moved into a stately $1,137,500 estate in leafy Bedford, NY, part of the newly redrawn 17th congressional district she is vying to represent. Biaggi, 36, and her entrepreneur husband Nathaniel Koloc, closed on the three bedroom, two bathroom home in the ritzy suburban enclave on July 27, according to the listing on Zillow,” the New York Post reported at the time.

“The 2,468 square foot ranch sits on 4.3 acres of land, and comes complete with two wood burning fire places and an in-ground heated pool. A master bedroom features a full walk in closet, and full bathroom with jacuzzi. A modern kitchen is adorned with Quartz countertops and a ‘copper farmer style sink,’ according to the listing,” according to the Post.

The home sounds quite glorious for any American, let alone one with so much alleged student loan debt.

So if she can afford the home, then why can’t she afford to pay off her student loan debt? Critics wanted to know:

As to why her student loan debt has increased, one critic argued that if she’d just “paid the interest plus some principal each month,” then her loan would have decreased instead of increasing.

Instead, the critic claimed, Biaggi likely only paid the minimum amount due each month, thus allowing the interest to build up over time.

What she really needs therefore, another critic noted, isn’t student loan debt forgiveness but rather a quality financial education — particularly from someone like famous financial adviser and radio show host Dave Ramsey.

All this comes after the high court’s decision Friday to nix President Biden’s unconstitutional plan to forgive millions in student loan debt.

“In a stinging defeat for President Joe Biden, the Supreme Court blocked the administration’s student loan forgiveness plan Friday, rejecting a program aimed at delivering up to $20,000 of relief to millions of borrowers struggling with outstanding debt,” CNN reported.

“The decision was 6-3 with Chief Justice John Roberts writing for the conservative supermajority. Roberts said the government needed direct authorization from Congress. ‘The question here is not whether something should be done; it is who has the authority to do it,” CNN added.

The decision prompted massive backlash and gnashing of teeth from leftists, including Biaggi, as well as President Biden and others.

“Within minutes of the court’s 6-3 ruling, the White House released a statement saying that Biden is ‘not done fighting yet’ and had ‘prepared for this scenario.’ After learning about the ruling from top aides, Biden met privately with them to consider next steps, White House officials said,” according to NBC News.

“Later in the afternoon, he rolled out new plans that the White House said would ensure financially ‘vulnerable” borrowers who miss payments through the end of September 2024 are not considered delinquent. He also announced new repayment options that would be made available to borrowers.”
