Relatives of Tom Hanks, Whoopi Goldberg have epic onscreen meltdowns in ‘Claim to Fame’ reality show

If watching entitled, non-famous relatives of very famous celebrities devolve into epic meltdowns sounds like a binge-worthy endeavor, then ABC has the perfect show for you.

Claim to Fame,” hosted by Frankie and Kevin Jonas, takes a dozen unknown relatives of famous people and shoves them into a “Big Brother”-style house where they must figure out who is related to whom.

Now in its second season, the show is rapidly gaining notoriety for the ultra-dramatic antics of the house guests after Tom Hanks’ niece, Carly Reeves, 39, became the first to get booted in this year’s premiere episode and responded with a sea of tears and a “blood-curdling” scream.

On Wednesday’s episode of ABC’s “The View,” co-host Whoopi Goldberg reminded the audience that her granddaughter, Amara Skye, had “a similar freak out” during season one of the show.

In the August 2022 episode, Skye’s relationship to Goldberg was deduced by fellow contestant, Lark, much to Skye’s surprise.

When given the opportunity to say goodbye to her housemates, Skye proclaimed, “F**k y’all, but alright. I am Whoopi’s granddaughter. I’m going to go out cussing like a motherf**ker, and you better bleep every f**king thing I say in this b**ch!”

During the show, Goldberg recalled with amusement that Skye referred to her as an “award-winning porn star.”

“It is true that I am an award winner, but it is not true that I was, or am, or will ever be a porn star,” Goldberg said. “Not that there’s anything wrong with it, but come on.”

On Monday’s premiere of the second season, Reeves broke down in tears when contestant Hugo correctly guessed that she was related to Hanks.

“This exit will go down in the TV history books,” the show’s Twitter account tweeted.

“The freaking clues were so freaking obvious,” Reeves screeched. “Freaking bench, and the freaking poster of the freaking Forrest Gump. Are you kidding me?”

“Why a bench?” she wailed. “Why a bench? There is literally no reference to benches on any other movies. Even [contestant] Gabriel found that out and he’s not even, like, smart!”

“I didn’t even get to do any challenges!” she screamed as she slammed her clothes into a suitcase. “I don’t deserve this. I should have more camera time. I should be here longer. No one expected that, no one.”

On Twitter, you could almost smell the popcorn.

“Whewww you know what, maybe we need more nepo-babies on TV,” tweeted one viewer.

“Pleaseeee y’all watch #ClaimtoFame this concept is hilarious!” exclaimed another. “These people shouldn’t have an ego but between Whoopi’s granddaughter last season and Tom Hanks niece now this is PEAK reality TV! I want 40 seasons of this.”

“Chet Hanks: I’m the biggest embarrassment to my family,” snarked a third, referring to Hanks’ outspoken, unpredictable son with longtime wife Rita Wilson. “Carly: hold my beer.”

“She was a damn mess,” stated one Twitter user, “you know Tom Hanks is embarrassed.”
