Watch: mass shooting averted in Vegas building by employee with handgun

While the gun grabbers are always quick to dismiss the notion that it takes a good guy with a gun to stop a bad guy with a gun, that exact scenario played out in Las Vegas on Friday.

In what appears to be a likely mass shooting unfolding, surveillance video captured a helmet-wearing gunman armed with an AR-15-type rifle shooting his way into the residential Turnberry Towers, but he didn’t make it beyond a second set of doors before an armed man inside the building opened fire.

The armed man inside, who is being hailed as a hero, is reportedly an employee of the towers and he dropped the potential mass shooter as he began to navigate the second set of doors.

The suspect was taken to a local hospital, where he is reportedly in critical condition.

Interestingly, despite the video above, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is downplaying the shooting, describing it as an “isolated incident.”

“I want to dispel any reports of any active assailant or any active shooter situations, that was not the case here today,” Lt. Noe Esparza with the Convention Center Area Command for LVMPD told 8 News Now. “The community is safe, this appears to be an isolated incident.”

Local media reported on “a shooting.”

Actor James Woods responded to the video to share a popular sentiment: “So simple even a politician should be able to figure it out. #SecondAmendment.”

Here’s a sampling of other responses to the story, as seen on Twitter:
