Tech titans Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg are set to take their battle for social media dominance into the physical realm as both seem to have agreed to face off in a “cage match” in which the heads of Twitter and Meta/Facebook could throw down, mano a mano.
With the news that Zuckerberg’s Meta is readying the launch of a serious competitor to Twitter, Musk reacted to a tweet on the coming of the alternative platform, a project that The Verge reported is looking to recruit big names including Oprah Winfrey and the Dalai Lama to lure potential users.
“I’m sure Earth can’t wait to be exclusively under Zuck’s thumb with no other options,” Musk wrote. “At least it will be ‘sane’. Was worried there for a moment .”

In another tweet, in a response to a user who noted that Zuck “does jiu-jitsu now,” the Tesla/SpaceX CEO replied, “I’m up for a cage match if he is lol.”

“I’ve confirmed that Zuckerberg’s post on his Instagram account is, in fact, not a joke, which means the ball is now in Musk’s court,” wrote Alex Heath for The Verge.
“The story speaks for itself,” Meta spokesperson Iska Saric told Heath.
“Vegas Octagon,” Musk posted on Wednesday, proposing the UFC venue for the faceoff with Zuckerberg.

The “Chief Twit” followed up, saying “I have this great move that I call ‘The Walrus’, where I just lie on top of my opponent & do nothing.”

Musk could have his work cut out for him with his foe having just walked away with gold and silver medals at a recent jiu-jitsu event that drew media attention for the tech mogul’s “barking” at a referee.

The “cage match” rendevous between Zuck and Musk comes amid news of the new Meta project which is codenamed as “Project 92” and could become an app named “Threads” as it readies to liftoff from the launching pad.

“We’ve been hearing from creators and public figures who are interested in having a platform that is sanely run, that they believe that they can trust and rely upon for distribution,” Meta chief product officer Chris Cox said, according to The Verge, teasing the product that could benefit from being pitched by Oprah to appeal to leftists who have been disenchanted by Musk’s takeover of Twitter.
