Testy Biden snaps at reporter asking about ‘big guy’ label: ‘Why’d you ask such a dumb question?’

A clearly irritated President Joe Biden snapped at a reporter who asked him about being referred to as “the big guy” in an FBI document alleging a criminal bribery scheme involving then-Vice President Joe Biden and a Ukrainian businessman.

“Why did the Ukraine FBI informant file refer to you as the ‘big guy,’ President Biden? Why is that term continuously applied?” New York Post reporter Steven Nelson asked.

The president, who had just spoken at an event focused on reducing corporate junk fees, shot back, “Why’d you ask such a dumb question?”

And while his reaction may appear as a deflection, it’s no worse than his response to being asked about the alleged existence of tapes — Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) revealed on Monday that the Burisma executive who allegedly paid Biden and son Hunter kept 17 audio recordings of his conversations with them as an “insurance policy,” citing the FBI document.

Nelson also asked this question as Biden made his way down the White House hallway. The question got the president’s attention, as he quickly stopped and turned back toward the reporter with a big smirk on his face. He did not comment.

“Are there tapes that you accepted bribes, President Biden? Is that true?” Nelson had asked.

The moral of the story here may be that if it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it’s probably a duck.

Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story from Twitter:
