Even libs troll ‘The’ Associated Press unmercifully for discouraging use of ‘dehumanizing’ word ‘the’

Traversing the minefield of woke is becoming increasingly more difficult as seen with an update to the AP Stylebook, which is used by many outlets in the media.

Turns out, The Associated Press is discouraging the use of the word “the” in certain contexts, explaining that it can be “dehumanizing.” No, seriously.

“We recommend avoiding general and often dehumanizing ‘the’ labels such as the poor, the mentally ill, the French, the disabled, the college-educated. Instead, use wording such as people with mental illnesses,” AP said in a tweet. “And use these descriptions only when clearly relevant.”

The trolling came hard and fast, with the French Embassy in the US joining in on the fun by suggesting it would now have to change its title to “Embassy of Frenchness in the US.”

“I guess this is us now…,” the sarcastic tweet read:

Liberal comedian Jon Stewart chimed in  — Warning: Adult Language — with this offering: “I believe the correct AP label is ‘the/those f*cking French.'”

Here’s a sampling of other online responses from social media users who were quick to note the irony at play given the news agency’s name:
