While the library Christmas tree battle may have been won in Dedham, Massachusetts, residents were far from ready to let it go.
During a Tuesday town hall, locals lit up their officials for trying to put a damper on the holidays by nearly allowing a librarian to ban the traditional Christmas tree from their Endicott Branch library.
While there was at least one resident in favor of banning the “symbol of Christianity” in the interest of “representing” other religions, the majority of those who spoke were upset, disappointed and fed up with the “woke” encroachment on their little town.
“Why do you hate Christians so much?” one man bluntly asked.
“This is not about a Christmas tree,” a woman explained of the backlash. “This is about you trying to lead the town into being woke.”
“These people now are watching you. They’re not going to put up with it anymore,” she added, putting the officials on notice that further shenanigans will not slip under the public’s nose.
A Jewish gentleman became emotional while describing what Christmas means to him, calling it a “time of peace” when “you should give respect to everybody.”
“You decided not to have a tree for whatever biases you may have, you thought nobody was gonna find out about it,” said a man in a blue hoodie, who thanked the media coverage of the incident for righting the wrong that had been done.
One man was more fired up than the others, telling the officials that if he had children he would move out of the town.
“I’ll tell you right now if I had little kids, I’d move away because of all you people,” he said. “None of you had the courage to stand up and do what was right. You embarrassed all over a tree.”
