President Biden bullies Elon Musk in his latest speech

Friday night, at a fundraiser for two struggling Illinois Democrats in tight congressional races, President Joe Biden took his patented dire tone and wielded it against Twitter CEO Elon Musk.

“Elon Musk goes out and buys an outlet that sends — that spews lies all across the world,” Biden said. “There are no editors anymore in America. There are no editors.”

Biden is echoing a sentiment on the Left that under its new CEO, Twitter is no longer moderating content. Biden might like you to forget the fact that hateful tweets like this were more than common under fired CEO Parag Agrawal.

But back to the speech, there were more ominous-yet-vague phrases Biden was ready to give emphasis through repetition.

“How do we expect kids to be able to understand what is at stake? What is at stake? So there’s a lot going on, a lot going on. But we have an enormous opportunity, enormous opportunity,” Biden droned.

It was not clear who the kids are, what they don’t realize is at stake, what specifically is going on, or what the opportunity is. Be that as it may, repetition really drove those points home.

For his part, Musk announced a week ago that a content moderation council would be formed. His intention is for free speech to be allowed on Twitter without seeing it “become a free-for-all hellscape, where anything can be said with no consequences.”

The billionaire, who is clearly well-informed, must still have been surprised to discover the size of the entrenched forces that are aligned against free speech.

A group of more than 40 organizations, including the NAACP and GLAAD, sent an open letter to Twitter’s top 20 largest advertisers, saying that Musk has allowed the platform to be “inundated with hate and disinformation.” Their hope is that these advertisers would stop patronizing Twitter and its “fake content.”

The organizations who signed the open letter wrote:

“We, the undersigned organizations, call on you to notify Musk and publicly commit that you will cease all advertising on Twitter globally if he follows through on his plans to undermine brand safety and community standards, including gutting content moderation. This means that Musk must not roll back the basic moderation practices Twitter already has on the books now and must commit to actually enforcing those rules.”

The Left loves to defund the purveyors and practicers of free speech, don’t they? Almost as much as they like to defund the police.

Musk took exception to the accusations in the open letter, but also let it be known that he is staying true to his mission.

“Twitter will not censor accurate information about anything,” he tweeted Friday.

Musk ally Mike Davis suggested the billionaire call out any advertisers who go ahead and boycott Twitter at the behest of these 40 leftist organizations:

In an open letter of his own, Musk clarified his purpose.

“The reason I acquired Twitter is because it is important to the future of civilization to have a common digital town square, where a wide range of beliefs can be debated in a healthy manner, without resorting to violence,” he wrote. “There is currently great danger that social media will splinter into far right-wing and far left-wing echo chambers that generate more hate and divide out society.”

As for Biden, is anyone curious about those repeated phrases? Repeated phrases? What is going on? Going on? Is it a tic? Is it a technique to make it feel like he’s not just reading from a prompter? Is he trying to make it sound as though he’s not lying? Is it a tell that he is, in fact, lying?
