San Diego city attorney claims Twitter ‘moving in troubling direction’ under Musk, drops platform

Author and humorist Mark Twain once wrote, “If you don’t read the newspaper, you’re uninformed. If you do read read the newspaper, you’re misinformed.” And although there are a thousand sites that seek (and fail) to attribute that axiom to someone else, the point remains as true today as it ever was.

While the ultimate effects of multi-billionaire Elon Musk’s takeover of social media leviathan Twitter remain to be seen, his purported endeavor to return the forum to a vehicle for free speech hasn’t stopped the censorious Left from screaming bloody murder over the prospect of relinquishing the information dominance they have long held over the unwashed masses.

As conservative talk show host Chris Plante has said time and again, “They’re not on our side.”

Still, one can always expect the vultures of the Left to swoop down and prey, even if there’s nothing to eat.

When she, along with many others, had their world upended by a white African-American who has successfully made the brightest minds at NASA look like novices (and has yet to lose a human in spaceflight), and bought Twitter for a gargantuan sum for which Musk himself says he overpaid, San Diego City Attorney Mara W. Elliott shared her currently-unfounded concerns Tuesday morning, writing that “Twitter is moving in a troubling direction – one that promotes hatred, violence, bullying, and false information.”

Then she threw down a gauntlet of sorts to the applause of no one.

“It is not a forum where users can feel respected or safe. We deserve better,” she wrote. “For that reason, my office will no longer communicate using Twitter.”

Fox News reported on Monday, “Musk’s stated goal in purchasing Twitter was to protect the freedom of speech, saying in a statement last week that a public square open to diverse opinions is necessary for democracy to thrive.”

The City Attorney followed on by tweeting, “Look for us on Instagram and continue to check out our website, which includes news releases, media interactions, and publicly issued legal opinions.”

Greg Gutfeld, who has solidified himself as the Don of the late-night talk show milieu, addressed the new phenomenon with his guests on Fox News’ “Gutfeld” Monday night.

Most people on Twitter weren’t having any of the guff from Elliott.
