Though not a stranger to the world of politics, Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake is a neophyte politician. The “bloodsport” doesn’t have many naturals, but she is undeniably one of them.
Reason number one, she is a great communicator – perhaps one of the finest on the Republican side since former President Ronald Reagan. Watching her campaign, one can easily imagine her running for president and winning.
Reagan could be winsomely snarky at times, and the former news anchor apparently has that skill in her quiver, as well.
Case in point: Lake’s open letter to outgoing Rep Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) on Friday, in which she credited the outgoing Representative’s ad against her for an amazing day of fundraising. “Shoutout to Liz Cheney, my biggest fundraiser yet.”
The addition of a heart at the end of that sentence is the cheekiest of adornments.
We JUST hit $300K raised in a SINGLE DAY! Shoutout to Liz Cheney, my biggest fundraiser yet ♥️

“Urging Arizonans not to vote for me is doing the just the opposite,” she wrote in the letter, which characterized Cheney’s ad as a “generous in-kind contribution.”
According to The Hill, Cheney’s ad was released across broadcast and electronic media through her leadership PAC, Great Task PAC, which will undoubtedly soon dissolve.
The letter is addressed to Liz Cheney, Defeated Member of Congress (WY-AL). What a delicious treat for conservatives! In all likelihood, it is delightfully salty to independents, too.
In fairness, Cheney made a very easy target of herself. She doesn’t seem to realize that she is political poison. Widely hated on both sides of the aisle. Democrats have treated her as a useful idiot, parading her about to give Republicans a bad name. Mitt Romney 2.0. Who has not succumbed to retching while watching Cheney’s vindictive performance on the January 6 committee?
“Our campaign donations are skyrocketing and our website nearly crashed from traffic as people rushed to learn more about my plan to put Arizona First and join our historic movement,” Lake wrote. “In fact, my team tells me your commercial should add another 10 points to our lead! I guess that’s why they call the Cheney anti-endorsement the gift that keeps on giving.”
To Troll or not Troll, that is the Question . . .
Sometimes, you just have to do it and not ask questions!
Sometimes, you might even be on your way to the Governor’s Mansion.

Just wait until my lap RINO @RepKinzinger runs his ad!

Lake’s campaign is perhaps the most intriguing and compelling phenomenon of the 2022 midterm cycle. She strikes the perfect balance between projecting a positive message and overwhelming a hapless opponent.
Sure, Katie Hobbs has made it easy for Lake. But then, hasn’t Raphael Warnock made it easy for Herschel Walker? Hasn’t Tim Ryan made it easy for JD Vance? Georgia and Ohio are far more hospitable for Republican candidates than Arizona, and yet those guys haven’t dispatched their opponents as adroitly as Kari Lake has dispatched hers. In a state that has become solidly blue, Lake, who recently polled 11 points ahead of Hobbs, is practically a shoo-in.
Lake said her campaign appreciates the “$500,000 ad buy” but said it “likely exceeds Arizona’s $5,300 individual contribution limit.”
“Thank you again for the huge boost to our campaign,” Lake concluded. “Enjoy your forced retirement from politics.”
