Following John Fetterman’s horrific debate performance on Tuesday, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris will appear together in Philadelphia at a reception for the Pennsylvania Democratic Party on Friday to try to get the invalid across the finish line and into the U.S. Senate.
“It’s always helpful to have the two leaders of the party out there in the final push,” said one Democratic strategist, according to The Hill. “Is it risky? Maybe. But it sends a powerful message in a really important race.”
“There are a few things in politics that have more capital than the bully pulpit of the White House,” said another strategist, Joel Payne.
It does seem a little bit heavy-handed to have them both there. It’s pretty rare – they don’t usually travel together. One wonders if the appearance in Philadelphia of two notoriously corrupt members of the Democratic Party is a signal to local party apparatchiks to get their machine up and humming again. But then… it’s always up and running.
And the stakes are high. With Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, and Ohio looking pretty optimistic for the GOP, Democrats need this pickup of a seat held until now by Republican Pat Toomey.
The outcome of this race could very well determine the balance of power in the Senate, and Democrats worry that Fetterman’s obvious cognitive impairment will dash their hopes of retaining the majority. The cartoonish candidate has led in the polls all season, but the race is now in a dead heat. Democrats are desperate to change the subject from the debate.
So, what do you think they will talk about at the Friday event? Seems obvious, doesn’t it? Abortion, of course.
Joe Biden and the Left continue to pretend that abortion is the top issue for voters this cycle. Apparently, they feel that ending life in the womb is the most important issue facing voters. They must also feel it is their best chance at winning. Both postulates are astonishing.
Biden (his staff, obviously) clipped a very cogent and well-reasoned Dr. Oz soundbite from his debate with Fetterman on Tuesday and tweeted it with derogatory extrapolations, hoping to make it sound scary.

The Fetterman campaign says it raised over $1 million after the debate, pimping the abortion issue.

A win for Oz means a nationwide abortion ban, the end of Medicare/Medicaid/SS, and same-sex marriage and contraception on the chopping block.
A win for Fetterman means codifying Roe, same-sex marriage, contraception, and protections for Medicare/Medicaid/SS.
It’s that simple.

The elephant in every room for Biden and Harris is inflation and the economy. The southern border runs a close second. Appearing together could be risky, indeed.
Recent polling shows that Biden and Harris are actually a drag on Democratic candidates, particularly on the topic of inflation.
According to The Hill, a Democratic strategist close to the White House said that the Biden/Harris agenda “is on the ballot. For Biden, it’s about how he will be able to govern the next two years and for Harris, it’s about deepening her relationships with the Democratic coalitions and expanding her name ID.”
Lobbyist Ivan Zapien continued with what must be wishful thinking.
“I think this is incredibly helpful to Fetterman,” the former Democratic National Committee official said. “I think that you may not see it in the polls but every time you see appearances together, people come out. The rallies at this point are more of an organization tool than they are a persuasive mechanism and I think that this will be helpful.”
Notably, neither Biden nor Harris has actually been drawing a crowd recently. Their primary function has been fundraising. Many candidates, including Senate hopeful in Ohio, Tim Ryan, have made it clear that they don’t want Biden and Harris coming around.
“This is about motivating Democratic voters to turn out and turn out big, which they will need to do to carry Pennsylvania,” said David Thomas, former deputy director of legislative affairs for former Vice President Al Gore.
“When you get towards the end of the election, and you want the sort of biggest bang for your buck, having both of them on the stage together, you’re gonna draw your biggest crowds, you’re gonna get the most media attention, if they’re both there.”
We’ll find out in less than two weeks if their focus and strategy paid off.
