Childcare experts alarmed when controversial trans activist sees ‘popularity bump’ after Biden visit

The TikTok content creator who met with President Biden at the White House has reportedly gained thousands of new followers since then.

This “popularity bump” is not sitting well with some childcare experts who have raised doubts about so-called gender affirmation.

Many parents also have to be concerned with the kind of online content of this genre that their children might be consuming.

Biden allocated some time from his “busy” schedule to meet with a group of progressives including trans activist and former Broadway actor Dylan Mulvaney, 25, who has 8.4 million followers on the above-mentioned social media platform and another 600,000-plus on Instagram.

The left defines healthcare to include puberty-blocking drugs, hormone treatments, and invasive surgical interventions even for minors, and gender-ideological Democrats from Biden on down are supportive of those measures.

Biden told Mulvaney that states should not have the authority to ban gender-affirming healthcare, apparently even when it comes to pre-teens.

“Candice Jackson, a lawyer and US-based spokesperson for Genspect, a global coalition of clinicians and parents against some so-called ‘gender-affirming’ care…called Mulvaney’s White House debut worrying,” the Daily Mail reported.

“Young people look up to celebrities and politicians, and if they only hear one side, with no cultural counterweight, they’re hearing that transitioning is somehow consequence free and risk-free. That’s ignoring the growing cohort of de-transitioners who come to regret their procedures,” Jackson told the Daily Mail.

Licensed clinical social worker Lisa Marchiano, who is a member of the team at the Gender Exploratory Therapy Association, echoed these misgivings.

“They’re called social media influencers because they influence people. It’s very concerning to see social media influencers get this kind of attention, being asked to visit the White House, celebrated and valorized without any critical appraisal or explanation or alternative viewpoints — and that could affect people,” she told the news outlet.

Board-certified pediatrician Julia Mason, an advisor to the Society for Evidence-Based Gender Machine, said “I look forward to President Biden meeting a de-transitioner to get some alternative views of this topic.”

Dr. Mason added that “It’s disappointing that the Biden team chose to elevate the status of this TikToker….social media is toxic to young people, especially young women. It presents them with unrealistic ideas about womanhood and drives anxiety and depression.”

Caitlyn Jenner separately praised U.S. Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) for calling out Mulvaney’s video advocacy for “normalizing the bulge.”

“Dylan Mulvaney, Joe Biden, and radical left-wing lunatics want to make this absurdity normal,” Sen. Blackburn wrote on Twitter.

Her tweet prompted Jenner, who has about three million Twitter followers, to thank the lawmaker “for speaking out and having a backbone — one of the best senators we have. Let’s not ‘normalize’ any of what this person is doing. This is absurdity!”

“For those experiencing gender dysphoria, transitioning with drugs and surgery can be life-saving. Yet some experts warn against providing irreversible treatments to adolescents, pointing to growing numbers who come to regret procedures and seek to de-transition,” the Daily Mail cautioned.

According to Fox News, Mulvaney has “garnered millions of followers for sharing her male-to-female transition.”
