Ed Brodow: It’s time to decide – which America will you leave to your kids?

Which America do you want to bequeath to your kids? November 8th is the time to decide. You have two choices from which to make your decision.

Choice Number One: A country that respects the Constitution, separation of powers, and limited government. A country that values individual rights over the power of the state. A country that prioritizes freedom of speech over political correctness, meritocracy over racial preferences, capitalism over socialism. A country run by elected representatives, not by an elitist oligarchy or the unaccountable bureaucrats of the Deep State. A country bound and protected by law and order at all levels. A country whose borders are secure. A country that promises economic prosperity for the majority of its citizens.

Choice Number Two: A country where the individual is subservient to the state. A country where freedom of expression is limited, dissent is met with repression, capitalism and free market competition are replaced with socialism, equality is replaced by equity, and meritocracy is replaced by race-based preferences. A country where the borders are wide open to criminals and terrorists, the middle class is gone, and American influence on the world stage is diminished. A country where you can’t afford to heat your home. A country where the government insinuates itself into every aspect of your life—telling you when you can leave your house, when you can go to work, where you can travel, and with whom you may associate. A country that rejects the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. A country whose citizens are afraid to walk down the main streets of its cities and towns because the government prioritizes criminals over law-abiding citizens.

If you prefer Choice Number One, vote for Republicans on November 8th. If you are insane enough to want Choice Number Two, vote for Democrats. It boils down to this (courtesy of Jeffrey Folks writing in American Thinker): Should we have “an all-powerful State exercising total control over its citizens or a democratic capitalist system with limited state powers as intended by our founders?”

In case you haven’t figured it out, the nation described in Choice Number Two is what we are getting right now courtesy of Joe Biden and the Democrats. “The Left,” warns Hillsdale College, “is leading a movement to recast American history as a tale of oppression rather than of liberty and hope. Their aim? To sever ties that bind Americans to our founding principles and the Constitution, paving the way for a further transformation of American government.”

As we look the other way, the Democratic Party is being hijacked by its radical left wing—whose aim is to destroy the America we know and replace it with a totalitarian socialist state run by unaccountable bureaucrats. The sitting president of the US has openly labeled his political opponents—Republicans—as dangerous extremists. He is weaponizing government agencies to stamp out dissenting opinions. The FBI has raided the homes of Trump supporters in the middle of the night. Democrats have embraced violence to achieve their objectives, thrusting our nation into rampant lawlessness. That used to be called Stalinism. Now it is Choice Number Two.

Where do you suppose Choice Number Two will lead? Isn’t this the alarm that ought to be waking us up? What will happen to our republic if we don’t stop it now?

“This is the hill to die on,” said Monica Crowley referring to the importance of the upcoming election. Make no mistake, this is it. If you care about your kids, get off your butt and support Choice Number One by voting for Republicans. We have to take back the House and Senate, followed by the White House in 2024. The alternative spells catastrophe for upcoming generations of Americans. We owe them, and ourselves, more than that.
