Biden’s history of snapping at reporters highlighted following recent hostility

To hear it from the mainstream media and their followers, former President Donald Trump was a big ol’ meanie who didn’t respect the press. True, he called CNN fake news on a number of occasions and tweeted at one point the liberal press was “the enemy of the American people.”

There’s definitely an argument to be made that a dishonest media is the enemy of the American people, but in terms of comparing Trump to President Joe Biden, the latter is arguably far more demeaning to members of the press, especially when he’s asked a question he doesn’t like.

Whereas Trump would field volumes of questions from belligerent reporters – often to his detriment – Biden just prefers to berate and demean the largely liberal-allied press when they do anything other than fawn over his excellencies.

Biden is frequently hostile with the press, like an old man trying to send back soup at a deli, as George Costanza might say. He has called a reporter a “kid,” he called NBC News’ Kelly O’Donnell a “pain in the neck” in the Oval Office when asked about a vaccine mandate for Veterans Affairs, and he once called Fox News’ Peter Doocy a “stupid son of a b—h” on a hot mic, the outlet reported, complete with a montage of some of the president’s greatest hits.

Just last week, Biden spoke with reporters on his way to Marine One, and one reporter asked about his plans to stump for Pennsylvania Democrat John Fetterman. It has not gone unnoticed that many Democrat candidates prefer not to be seen with the president due to the campaign toxin of his atrocious approval ratings. And when he’s not being handsy with little girls, he will sometimes get physical with reporters.

“John Fetterman is going to appear with you today in Pennsylvania, but there haven’t been that many candidates campaigning with you. Why?” one reporter asked.

“That’s not true. There have been 15. Count, kid, count,” Biden snapped as he grabbed the reporter.

The reporter pressed, “Are there going to be even more?”

Biden tersely responded, “yeah,” before he moved on to another reporter who was in for it, too.

When asked by that reporter if there should be any restrictions on abortion, Biden responded that indeed there should. The reporter asked exactly what those ought to be and Biden replied with an angry non-answer, “In Roe v. Wade! Read it, man, you’ll get educated!”

Earlier this year, the irascible Biden snarled at a reporter who brought up the fact that some Democrats – tacitly or not – don’t want him to run for reelection in 2024.

“Read the polls, Jack. You guys are all the same.” According to Merriam-Webster, “The noun Jack has been used to refer generally to a man, and especially an ill-mannered or obnoxious fellow, since at least the 1600s.”

As well, a reporter best not mention that pesky little term “recession” nor cite economists who say it’s real.

“Not the majority of them aren’t saying that. Come on, don’t make things up, OK? Now you sound like a Republican politician,” Biden said to one reporter who dared to inquire on the subject.

“I’m joking, that was a joke,” he claimed.

And his ne’er-do-well son is off-limits, too.

“Mr. Biden, what is your response to the New York Post story about your son, sir?” Bo Erickson asked immediately following the NY Post’s initial report on the Hunter Biden laptop, the veracity of which has since been proven.

“I know you’d ask it,” Biden shot back. “I have no response, it’s another smear campaign, right up your alley, those are the questions you always ask.”

In 2019, Biden rejected the premise that his son’s no-show job in Ukraine was a conflict of interest considering the former was serving as the vice president at the time.

“It’s not a conflict of interest. There’s been no indication of any conflict of interest,” he said while at a Service Employees International Union forum in Los Angeles.

But surely his favorite reporter (and WH press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre’s, for that matter) must be Fox News’ Peter Doocy.

Doocy once asked about a 2019 court filing that revealed Hunter Biden had fathered a child with an Arkansas woman, to which Biden replied, “No, that’s a private matter. I have no comment. But only you would ask that. You’re a good man. You’re a good man. Classy.”

The Fox News reporter had also once remarked that crowd sizes for then-candidate Biden’s Iowa campaign stops were pretty meager.

“I know you’re going to go after me no matter what … And it’s OK, it’s good. I’m a big boy. I can handle it … I notice you didn’t ask me why I’m ahead in all the polls still. I notice you didn’t ask me how I feel about the new CNN poll,” Biden told Doocy.

And of course, the now-infamous jab captured on a hot mic that Doocy was a “stupid son of a b—h” when the latter asked in January if Biden thought inflation was a good thing.

During that same solo press conference, the first one of any significant length so far, Biden slammed another reporter for bringing up his comments that opponents on the other side of the political aisle were no different than segregationists George Wallace and Bull Connor (both Democrats.)

“No, I didn’t say that,” Biden growled. “Look what I said. Go back and read what I said, and tell me if you think I called anyone who voted on the side of the position taken by Bull Connor that they were Bull Connor. That is an interesting reading of English. I assume you got into journalism because you like to write.”

But at least the Great Unifier is hypocritical and inconsistent.

“I’m not joking when I say this: If you’re ever working with me and I hear you treat another colleague with disrespect or talk down to someone, I promise you, I will fire you on the spot — on the spot. No ifs ands or buts,” Biden said immediately following his inauguration in January 2021. “Everybody is entitled to be treated with decency and dignity.”

Whatever you say, Jack.
