The leaker of the Supreme Court draft opinion giving the nation advance notice that Roe v. Wade would be overturned has still not been identified and former President Donald J. Trump has an idea on how to speed up the process in order to find the culprit.
During his Saturday night rally in Robstown, Texas, Trump suggested that the best way to smoke out the leaker would be to jail the two Politico reporters who broke the story on Justice Samuel Alito’s draft of the majority opinion that Roe should be aborted, and keep them there until they reveal who gave it to them.
In his typical colorful language, the nation’s 45th president told the raucous crowd of enthusiastic attendees that reporters Josh Gerstein and Alexander Ward should be locked up if they didn’t squeal on the leaker and suggested that the idea that they could end up being the “bride of another prisoner” would be a powerful incentive to come clean.
“You know in this country they leak all over the place – even on the Supreme Court,’ he said. “By the way, you have to find the leaker.”
“You take the writer and or the publisher of the paper – a certain paper that you know – and you say ‘who is the leaker?,’ national security, and they say ‘we’re not going to tell you,’ and they say, ok, you’re going to jail.”

“And when this person realizes they are going to be the bride of another prisoner very shortly, he will say ‘I’d very much like to tell you exactly who that leaker was. It was Bill Jones, I swear he’s the leaker!'” Trump said.
‘They don’t want to do that. But that’s the only way,” he added.
The ex-POTUS had previously suggested going to the reporters to obtain the identity of the leaker.
“The U.S. Supreme Court MUST find, reveal, and punish the ‘Leaker.’ Very easy to do – Go to the reporter who received the leak,” Trump wrote on Truth Social in June.
“This is a tremendously serious matter that has never happened, to anywhere near this extent, before,” he added. “The Court will be compromised and demeaned until this very big problem is solved!”
Among other themes that Trump touched on during his crowd pleasing speech included the Liz Cheney-Nancy Pelosi J6 committee sending him a subpoena in a last gasp of desperation before the Soviet-style sham tribunal is dissolved if Republicans retake the House as expected.
“They sent me a subpoena the other day” he said to booing from the crowd. “They sent me a subpoena, think of it. These crooked people, these crooked people.”

“And the the only thing they don’t invest… that they don’t want to do investigate, the only thing they don’t want to do, they won’t investigate, was the corruption that took place in that election, which was massive. And the facts are all there.”
Trump also stumped for Texas Republicans and lit up quirky Democrat gubernatorial hopeful Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke, a darling of progressive out of state donors and the media who is seeking to unseat Gov. Greg Abbott.
“Seventeen days from now, the people of Texas are going to defeat Beto O’Rourke, a flake. He’s a flake! He’s a flake!” Trump said, also working in a jab at former senator Jeff Flake whose vocal opposition to Trump cost him his job in Congress.

“And we’re going to keep Greg Abbott, a wonderful man, a great man, a great governor, we’re going to keep him in the governor’s mansion,” Trump said.
Nearly six months after the leak of Alito’s draft opinion, the SCOTUS leaker remains as much a secret as they mysterious individual who planted the pipe bombs on the night before the January 6, 2021 chaos at the Capitol.
